Correct. I'm a "victim" as well, classical music in particular. Music should have back to front depth coming from the speakers, no treble, midrange or bass needed to adjust the sound. Once you get lost in that, the sky is the limit. I know a few people that spent a fortune on it, only focusing on what's not entirely ok with their Hi-end set up.
Just enjoy the music.

You are messing dynamics with punch. Virgin CD is louder than the earlier editions. Also it was boosted between ~100 Hz and ~2kHz.Quote
