Mel is playing with this very tight group of gents, most of whom were members or recorded with Dire Straits. It was a wonderful show, highly recommended - paying homage to this great band in a humble, but energetic way. Does anyone know what othwr songs Mel played sax on for the Stones besides Miss You?
Mel's a class act. He was fantastic on the two King Crimson-shows I saw in recent years.
His funkiness on Miss You is great (how could they remove his solo on the single?), and the way he brings melody into Everything Is Turning To Gold is sensational. He is also important in creating the atmosphere on Think I'm Going Mad.
He has many styles, though: I strongly recommend a listen to my favourite King Crimson-album, Islands. He is brilliant there, on sax, flute and bass flute
