Start Me Up is not perfect recorded at all on TY. But: The singing on SMU is maybe the best vocals Mick ever did. For me, that counts a lot!

I would say Tops ,ain't no use in crying.
Slave is unfinished.Could have been a new Can't you hear me knocking but it fails half way.
I have never been crazy about TY and I seldom listen to it but I must admit that after the disaster of Emotional Rescue we were all relieved to see the Stones back on track.

"Little tits and ass" is the weakest track - but weak on a very high level. It's the weakest not because of the riff (which is cool), but because of Keith's singing.

Tatoo You is among the best Stones albums in my book. Side B is sheer genius. Heaven and No Use In Crying are both fantastic crafted songs. Lay down on a summer day with two speakers at each ear side and play Heaven over and over again. Then you'll know.. this song is a gem.

"Hang Fire" from the rock'n'roll side and "Tops" from the ballad side are by far the weak links.

I'd probably cut "Hang Fire" first.

the last album without a weak track. I guess it was a trick question, eh?

I also think that Slave is the weakest rack

'Tattoo You' has some supremely crafted songs, and, includes two or three of my absolute fave stones raves -- namely, the glorious "Worried About You",the sublime "Waiting On a Friend",and, that funky groove-fest that is "Slave".

"Heaven" would also be in my top-picks,etheral,quite beautiful, and, very atmospheric track. The Slow-Side of the album is more or less faultless,a collection of 5 bloody great tunes!

Side-1 is almost as good, the only tracks I skip are 'Neighbours'(mainly due the horrible production though -- it just sounds different, to the rest of the album, very tin-canny and gaudy),and,'Hang Fire',even though I like the live version of it,it's a wee bit of a filler between the twin beasts of 'Start Me Up' and 'Slave'.

A dirty,bluesy beast of an album...stones in '81!

Yeah, and I believe it's the only cut newly recorded for the album. So, much as I like it (live, I think it's better than "She's So Cold," or should be), I'll call it the weakest cut. Side 2 is brilliant.

Weakest track on Tatoo You??

No such thing. Excellent start (me up) to finish. Great memories of a great time (and the 81 tour).

You shouldn't think but listen.

"Slave" is clearly the best track on TATTOO YOU, combining rock blues soul funk and even jazz. Also combining all of the Rolling Stones with pete Townshend and Billy Preston and Sonny Rollins. I'm sure there will be later re-remastered editions with even longer versions of that devilish heavy monster groove. We're at only 6'34" now

"Peggy Sue" just does not belong on this album but its a nice track...

Pete Townshend? Never heard this, don't believe it. The riff and solo clearly sound like Keith. Slave is wonderful, particularly the longer version.

I'd vote for Neighbors as weakest, followed by Hang Fire.

Neighbours.

I prefer Hang Fire.
