60 in 60: Stones Studio Output the First 60 Years (Group and Solo) Projects)

With all the understandable negative comments concerning the Stones very limited studio output as a band over the last 2+ decades, I thought I would do a quick search to see how their overall studio (US) output looked over the first 60 years of the band's history, when you included all current and former band members 'solo' projects. I found that it looks like there are approx. a total of 60 studio albums issued in the US when you combine the band's catalogue along with solo related projects. This probably has a number of errors but it gives a pretty good idea of how much overall studio output they have had as a band and on the solo fronts these first 60 years of their history. I didn't include the actual studio album names next to each entry below (to get this done quicker),only the years particular albums were issued and whether it was a band studio issuance or what member name it was issued by for solo related projects. Pretty good amount of studio output over their career individually and collectively. Sorry if there are any formatting issues in the list below once I send this (as I am not the best person technically when it comes to editing / formatitng online 'stuff').

Are we not including 2012's two singles, or LIAGT? Or Mick's 2021 Easy Sleazy?

Licks cuts as well.

I realize they're not albums but it is studio material. And then there's the treasure trove of bonus material on the Tattoo, GHS, Exile, Sticky etc. releases.

Yep, thanks. Missed Charlie's Long Ago and Far Away 1996.

Only included full studio albums on the list. Totally agree, though. There is a ton of other issued studio material over the years.

Interesting so nobody’s done a lick of anything in four years? Ronnie’s I Feel Like Playing is 12 years old at this point?

Nice list, Jimmer!

Would "Brian Jones Presents The Pipes of Pan....." fall on this list, or is this not technically considered a studio effort?

Thanks! I thought about including Brian Jones' Pipes of Pan... but ended up leaving it out as I thought he was mainly the producer of the album versus being a musician on it. This is just an informal list though with no rules. So, I almost feel like we should consider adding it to the list the more I think about it now, in honor of Brian and all the incredible contributions he made to the Stones and also with him playing such a vital role in the album's production and release. What do you guys think?

The band's first 60 years of history.

Are you thinking there will be a second year of 60 years of history!!??

It's just 60 years of history. That's it!

I'm very good sometimes at ignoring reality! Maybe 60 more years of vault releases ...

unfathomable to me. It feels like it was like 5 years ago maybe.

Personally, I would count Ronnie's two solo live tribute albums too. Even though they were covers, they were still new recordings by a Stone. As in, we hadn't had previous versions from Ronnie before.

If we include all the bonus tracks from the deluxe editions, The 40 Licks & Grrr tracks, LIAGT, as well as Watching The River Flow, Eazy Sleazy, Gotta Get A Grip, England Lost, Strange Game, Blue Christmas (Ronnie), The Worst (Keith with Sheryl Crow) etc, they are actually quite prolific!

Production is output though so I would include the Joujouka album. smiling smiley

Brian of course also did do the soundtrack for Mord Und Totschlag/A Degree of Murder film in February 1967. Released as part of film in Europe in 1967, and I think, in USA later, maybe 1970? Obviously not an album, EP or single, so outwith the premise of the list.

The Performance soundtrack LP should be included due to Mick's fantastic Memo From Turner. smoking smiley

Jamming With Edward?

If we're adding single tracks I think the Symphony for the Devil album should be included, as well as the Ben Waters album, the Chieftains Long Black Veil, the Jagger contribution to T.H.E. It really starts adding up.

Yes, I feel like they need to be included for sure. B&L is nothing but covers and if that's included, so should Ronnie's 2 albums. Then they'd be a bit more prolific of late! LOL
