I just read in the news that Maneskin, an Italian group that became famous for winning the 2021 editions of San Remo and Eurovision festivals, will open for the Stones in Las Vegas.

Must be the first time ever that an Italian artist opens for the Stones not in Italy (in fact, I think that the only Italian act to open for the stones was Al Bano in 1967).

My daughters love them, and indeed they are not bad. Curious to how they will be received by a Stones crowd ...

C
they are pretty cool. Bit to hard for Stones crowd and the Eurovision Image hanging above them. But they are really good.

On August 15, 2007 in Hamburg, Germany, we should have had the phantastic Amy as opener - unfortunately she was "ill" so that we had a boring "Starsailor" for a second time. They were a makeshift, a late addition,I suppose.
Too bad, not only for Amy (R.I.P.!).

One not mentioned is Shaggy, saw him in Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Shaggy actually was pretty fun. Perfect for south Florida. Way too many to remember going back to '75.

I remember the 1982 Tour with
- BAP, they only played in their home town Cologne, great show.
- Peter Maffay, he gave everything on 6 shows, but got booed, because he was too soft in the Stones fans mind.
- Die Toten Hosen, a german punk band in their beginning, great show.
- J. Geil's Band, fantastic performance.

On later tours, they had some terrible bands, I still forgot their names.

Another highlight was 2003 in Oberhausen, AC-DC was a fantastic opener.

My shows...unfortunately never seen them with some of the blockbuster acts some of you have. angry smiley

'81 - The Rockets (regional band, nothing special; I think was supposed to be Stanley Clarke and George Duke but they cancelled at the last minute for some reason and this was the replacement act)
'89 - Living Colour (I think Mick was producing a song or the album, not bad, fun show)
'94 - Blind Melon (got there 10 minutes after they started and missed the only song I knew)
'97 - Kenny Wayne Shepherd (always good, this show was no exception)
'99 - Jonny Lang (much like Kenny Wayne Shepherd)
'02 - Sheryl Crow (always good)
'05 - Beck (interesting...)
'06 - Soulive (don't even remember them, that probably says enough)
'13 - No opening act??
'15 - Ed Sheeran (fascinating guitar player imo)
'19 - St. Paul and the Broken Bones (would probably enjoy them in a bar but nothing special)
'21 - The Revivalists (ok, not great, played too long)
