Sweet Neo-Con, perhaps?

Maybe tonight in SF for the first and only time?

Doubtful, but it certainly would fit the political views of the Bay Area!

Boston might be the other best chance, but I highly doubt it'll be played in the U.S. at all. In Europe, though...

(I have tickets to the Boston shows, but I'd prefer that they NOT play "Sweet Neo-Con" at them. I don't disagree with the political sentiment, and I suppose there would be some historic value, but there are other ABB songs I'd prefer to hear in those slots. Like "Look What the Cat Dragged In," for example. I just don't think "Sweet Neo-Con" is that great of a song.)

I'm have the opposite position: i don't really agree with the political critique yet I think the song rocks!

I don't think they will play that song at all.

Also I doubt it will make any sense to play it in Europe when the US American Republicans should hear it. Then again a sane Republican won't listen to the Stones anyway.

Seems this was just a song to vent Mick's frustration.

Yeah but I dont think Republicans really care about that song maybe some old 60s leftwings think its cool and radical. Im sure some of the corporations that sponsor Mick and Keith vote Republican.

Stupid song with stupid lyrics should have been left off ABB. Another case of the Stones trying to be 'hip' with the times. Bad move

I love it when right-wingnuts go berserk over stuff like this, and then claim they're not angry over the message...they just don't think ANY band should be political, left or right.

Very predictable.

I bet Bjornulf will delete this thread pretty soon.
We're not allowed to discuss certain stones songs.
That sounds like a goddamn joke to me.
Censorship is back in town.

Well, let me end my posting on this thread by quoting Kurt Cobain from the song "Milk It":

"Angel left wing, right wing, broken wing.
Lack of iron and/or sleeping".

You really think so? I still believe that it was mainly about generating some "controversy" that would hit the airwaves right when ABB hit the stores!

Europe? Why the hell play a song about American politics in Europe and not in America?

I like the groove of it. And I like the lyrics. And I agree with them as well, but that's merely a bonus.

I like the groove, but i don't like the lyrics. And i agree with them, but i expected something better then neo-con...

But if they don't have the guts to play it in the States, then they shouldn't bother playing it on the other side of the ocean.

I was hoping to hear it last night--the video images could have been great. Some good harp.

I like the song and I like the message, though the lyrics seem a little juvenile. I doubt they will ever play it. If they don't play it in America they shouldn't play it in Europe; it would seem like they didn't have to play it before an American audience and waited until they were in front of a crowd that would agree with them.

If they don't have the guts to play it in the States they shouldn't record it at all. And it's the same with "Highwire".

How about inviting the guys from the US Congresss and do a special free club gig for them, including

- (I can't get no) satisfaction
- Street fighting man
- Gimme shelter
- Midnight rambler
- Sweet black angel
- Doo doo doo doo doo (Heartbreaker)
- Fingerprint file
- Indian girl
- Undercover of the night
- Highwire
- Sweet Neo Con

That's about all they got to say. I'm sure the Congressmen will be oh so impressed.

i though when they were in DC, it would have been funny if Mick took out his auto harp and played the first few notes, then said something like, "I better not play that one tonight" and moved on to another song!

I agree absolutely.

I find alot of irony in the lyrics. For example, the line that goes..."one thing is for certain, life is good at Halliburton."

At $450 for a ticket on this tour I have to assume that life is pretty damn good in Stonesland too!!!!!!!

Somewhat hypocritical on Mick's part I think.

Lyrical content aside...the song BLOWS and they never should have released a track to nowhere...why did they choose to put those lyrics on the weakest groove?...because it would be the only way to draw attention from both the left and the right...if you listen to it from a pure music/Stones fan point of view...it's horrible...not against the politcal opion as HIGHWIRE was great track with good lyrics...play the two back to back and SWEET NEOCON can't hold it's own.

The lyrics are weak, no matter your political bent. See the Halliburton lyric. Damn, Vanilla Ice could have came up with a better couplet than that!
