I do like it that with Jordan they do play quite a bit faster. I like how they start Trouble's A Coming. Let's be honest, Charlie was dragging quite a bit for the last years.

you're free to enjoy this new sound of what once was a swinging rock and roll band.

Mick - Keith - Charlie: the swinging Rolling Stones
Don't call this band The Rolling Stones, you can call them just "The Stones"

Out of curiosity what would you call them if Taylor replaced Ronnie for some reason.

Yes he was dragging, and just as i suspected they are playing faster and that will continue with Jordan, songs like Brown Sugar were painfully slow in recent years, Keith always got the blame for the slowed down pace, now we know different.

Charlie played slower, with a lighter touch, ever since 2012. It sounded very different from 2007. But it still sounded like the good old Stones, just older and less aggressive.
Now with Steve the sound will be completely different, less wobble and not the same swing. It will be a different kind of groove. I still think they will sound good, but not in the same way as before.

Yes, completely right. It was a bit slower and lighter, but still having all the specifics, dynamic and pauses that we have known that well from the album's and live shows. Many of those are missing now.

Worst way to celebrate Charlie would have been to place a Carlie copycat on the stool. Charlie is inimitable.
Jordan is a great way to move on!

... but the songs should retain the specific Stones sound, which with Mr. Jordan just does not happen now.

Why?
Thank god Mick Taylor didn't even try to replicate Brian Jones!

I also noticed bigger slowdown in e.g. 2017, but in 2019 it was faster again.
I would prefer 2019 Stones sound instead 2021 faster Jordan approach anytime.

The slowdown happened in 2012, and remained ever since (JJF, BS, IORR etc).

Yes, but in 2017 (if I rememeber) for some shows it has been very prominent and then made a bit faster afterwards

The first few shows in 2017 they played a bit slower than usual:

Start Me Up Houston 2019: [www.youtube.com]
Start Me Up Le Trabendo 2012: [youtu.be]

Yes the slowdown happened in 2012, but the tempos in Hamburg 2017 were the slowest I can recall outside of warm-up club gigs.

Yes nobody can replace Charlie completely, but the songs should retain the specific Stones sound, which with Mr. Jordan just does not happen now.
