I've alway's heard that the reason the movie never got released originally was because The Stones didn't like their performance(s), is this true?

don't know if it's true, but it's what ive always heard as well...in retrospect the circus performance sounds great!...they were obviously more self-critical in those days, imo a necessary ingredient to the greatness of their glory years

The Who stole the show.
But the JJF version is IMO their best ever

i believe it was a combo of them not being satisfied with thier own performance AND the feeling that the Who blew them away.

No doubt the Who put on a good show that night, but I think the Stones sound great and. I love the somehwat angrier version of You can't Always..., Sympathy is also a great version and Salt of the Earth is a classic.

I'm disappointed about the play back version of "Salt of the Earth". Only the vocals are live. Otherwise I've read in the CD booklet that they did many different versions of the same song, e.g. "JJF" five times. I would like to hear all the versions. And they does some blues songs ...
