With all due respect to our host, I wish BV were correct on this and I hope that the Stones may yet lead, rather than pander...

And right on to Gazza for jumping on the contradiction.

Well said, I agree. And hats off to the Stones for giving us an interesting setlist!

by the way, now that the Stones have "answered" or have "listened" to their critics by cranking out a great setlist last night, does that mean that the critics/setlist whiners (feel free to choose the insult of your choice) deserve a pat on the back for successfully 'encouraging' the Stones to make the show more interesting? winking smiley

Either Tears or Lady Jane shoudl be in every show...it would be refreshing for us and them. And tell me (pun intended) the crowd wouldn't go wild if the did Out of Time or Mother's Little Helper...

What's about Ronnie and his guitar work?

Although a lot of people sat down during the three song ABB set last night in Hollywood, the applause were loud after each new song.

yes, cmon gazza you have to admit the set was a bit lame until last night,
you have to believe now that the stones read this board, what happened last nite
was not just by chance, it was a reaction to the critics for sure

I have to admit?? LOL...Of course it was 'a bit lame', thats my point...

yes indeed, see we can get to the stones if we keep bitching and moaning,
hey mick now that we know you read the board, may we please have a 2 dvd

May be memory is hard to come by. After all it is a long time since 1997. This is exactly how they develop their shows and tours every time. They bring in some new songs. Then they play that set for a while. Then they bring in another new song from their new album. After a while. And so on. This is what happend in 1997:

Sep 21: Tour start Chicago. Anybody Seen My Baby, Out Of Control
Oct 10: Flip The Switch
Nov 07: Saint Of Me
Nov 19: You Don't Have To Mean It

They did not start playing the entire Bridges To Babylon album right away.

By the way, I don't say they don't care about or don't listen to the fans. Sure they listen to the fans. But they don't care about people who constantly keep complaining about all sorts of things. They have been in this business for more than 40 years and have some system of what they do. That is why it is nice to see a show every now and then, because you are bound to get a new song eventually.

I saw them last night in Hollywood. It was wonderful, one of my favorites of 10 or so since '81. However, you are delsuional if you think they are currently the greatest live band. Show, spectacle, excitement, maybe. Musical performance? Maybe for a few seconds here and there throughout the night. Too many flubbed solos and riffs. Keith and Ron could really improve their solos. I didn't hear one that I thought they "nailed". Ron doesn't even play the solo on Shattered, and Can't Always Get was more feedback and bending and posing than anything else. After playing She So Cold almost every night, you'd think Keith could remember where the bridge is (even my girlfriend noticed). The solos in Sympathy just aren't that good. Just stating facts... had a great time, not complaining.

Actually, Keith is lucky he doesn't get ripped by critics (who don't get his schtick) in every city for his performance during his set.

Love 'em.
