I've read some booshee and click bait in my time, but this is really off, IMHO. No "Satisfaction" in the top 10. Kiss my bupkis, mofu's.

OK...let's not bother with this booshee then.

Here's my top 10 stones riffs, in no order off the top of my head.

Satisfaction
HTW
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
JJF
Brown Sugar
Start Me Up
19th Nervous Breakdown
Rocks Off
Undercover of the Night
Street Fighting Man

I would have guessed either Smoke On The Water or Satisfaction. I wouldn't even pick Whole Lotta Love as the best Zep guitar riff.

For me It's Honky Tonk as my all time favorite guitar riff . Pure genius on the riffmasters songwriting !

It's weird how something that can only be subjective becomes objective when it's in a magazine

"Welcome to the Jungle" is a great opening riff.

...or is that considered more of a "lick?"

it's dope, either way....nailed it.

Load of crap indeed. Page & plant had to give credits to Willie Dixon isn't it?
And to have to pay to see the rest of that list ... Who would do that?

I'd put some Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker in.
Mark Knopfler and Billy Gibbons also come to mind.

Keith's "can't you hear me knocking" and Allan Holdsworth's "Meal Fatigue" are about the dirtiest I have ever heard.

IMO the greatest guitar riff of all time is Chuck Berry's intro of "Carol". That particular riff figure reoccures in varied forms. Berry copied hisself several times, so did later guitarists, among them one that we admire most.

But Carol came out later (1958) than some of the other songs with that riff. Roll Over Beethoven, for instance, came out in 1956.

An immortal riff, just the same (allegedly nicked off Johnnie Johnson).

You could argue Brown Sugar, and that was written by Mick, ha.

Walk by Pantera? For sure one of the gnarliest riffs, but that choice seemed to come out of left field, considering the other choices.

It's popular opinion in the moment, so that is what their reader's think right now.

Maybe PROBABLY it's even changed since they did the poll.
