I haven’t heard Lloyd Thaxton’s name mentioned in decades. But I remember him as a fixture in SoCal in the ‘60’s.

I was a huge fan of her distinct vocals and presence with Sonny and her first Solo hits too.
I understand that tv show stuff is gonna demand a lot of vanilla stuff but still was a fan.
She's talented and I'm not wanting to deny that but IMO the high fashion and Kardashian comciousness just removed her from personal credibility with me.
Shoop shoop couldn't touch Betty Everett.
IMO.
I viewed Dark Lady only cause I trust you Elmo.
Super compelling song writing.
I overlooked the face nets and jewels and listened.
Good song. But IMO she didn't do it dynamic Justice.
If she made a simple dressed down and spare album like Johnny Cash's American Records series, I bet her Natural unaffected talent would shine.
Even I could produce a comeback album for her if she worked with a very small mostly acoustic and percussion players.
I hate dissing a major talented personally but aside from banal political posturing, which is common, I think she does disservice to her interpretive skills, preferring shock outfits like Kesha.

Nice read. Not really a fan - she and Sonny doing Baby Don't Go and The Beat Goes On is my musical interest in her. I do recall seeing them perform on the Lloyd Thaxton show as Caesar and Cleo before they changed their look and became the Sonny and Cher of the 1960s most people will recall.

Yup, nice read. Always liked Sonny & Cher performing this song. Clip from Letterman show in 1987 and probably the last time they did this together. Enjoy.

You know what got me, was when she hooked up with Gregg Allman. Of all the people. And he was so totally out of his depth, he looked like a lost puppy most of the time. Never understood it except opposites attract.

Sonny and Cher worked a lot with Phil Spector and sang backup vocals on alot of those 60s hits he wrote for the Ronettes, Crystals etc.
Was it on Shindig that Brian mimed I Got You Babe with the hostess of the show?

Their early stuff was great. Her early Solo cover of "All I Really Wanna Do" Dylan sing showed a beautiful voice and unique sound. I didn't think she was 16 or 17, her voice so 'realized' and distinct.
The political Comments disturb me and reduce my interest but not my respect and some residual affection.
Showed great acting chops in a few movies too.
