Probably 1975 or maybe 1976.
Bought Welcome To New York MSG 1972 from somewhere off the Classifieds in the back pages of Rolling Stone magazine.
Came in the US mail with the plain white sleeve with the separate pink paper cover drawing that i taped to the front sleeve. Guess it was the Trade Mark of Quality label?
Can't remember if i mailed cash or a check from my parents when i ordered it through the mail.

I remember it well! June 2000, wasnt part of online Stones community, and had read about films like CS Blues, Marquee 1971, L&G 1972 - wondering would I ever see them. No YouTube then.
Through a trader, he was in Australia, he emailed me his Stones VHS list and I was astonished - there they were, all of the unreleased films I'd read about and never thought I'd see!! The excitement, I remember asking him was his list real, how did he get them lol
Ordered 2 VHS compilations, 8 hours of stuff - Marquee, L&G, CS Blues, Paris 1976..etc. Incredible, and the quality was great when these 2 VHS tapes arrived.

My dad had been buying Stones bootlegs for decades starting in the 80's. He would go to record shops in the village in NYC. When I was younger, he would take me to work with him, than we would take the Subway down to the Village for lunch and go to the record stores. I don't remember my exact 1st experience but it was just so much fun searching through the CD's to find some rare Stones bootlegs. Unfortunately when I went back to the Village a few years ago I noticed many of the record stores had been closed, but still a few were open.

December 1969.
Chicago. A record store in a hippy section of "Old Town' called Piper's Alley.
I'd heard an ad for the "LIVEr Than You'll Ever Be" (Oakland 69 second show) bootleg on an underground radio station and the ad was run by this hippy record shop. This was just after I'd heard about Altamont.
The disc was $5.50 and I thought that was a lot for a record, but I bought it anyway being a Stones fan.
The store also had copies of the current Dylan bootlegs (Great White Wonder and Stealin') as well as the Plastic Ono Band performance from their Toronto show a couple of month's earlier. (This was eventually released legally as "Live Peace In Toronto")
The records all had white sleeves with rubber stamps on them indicating the title. None were shrink wrapped.
I was surprised upon listening to the Stones bootleg. It was not the complete show. The recording was an audience tape. The audience seemed only moderately enthusiastic until the last few numbers of the show. I was surpirsed by the differences in arrangements between the studio versions and these live performances, with the exception of "Love In Vain".
I'm an old man now and that's all I can remember.
