Keith's voice

Hi guys,
i was listening to Exile, Keith's voice was fantastic at that time!! I think he had his peak in 71-72. I mean, listen Casino boogie, try to reach that notes!!
I think he lost his thin high-pitched voice during the 78 tour: listen to Happy on Love You Live and then Keith's voice on '78 singing Happy or Beast of Burden on SNL. From 78 to 82 he had a broken voice, but still higher than now. From '83 he started singing very similar to now. I love Keith's voice, even now, what do ya think about it? When do you think he reached his best as a vocalist???
sorry for my english, bye!

What is wrong with your English? Don't apologize on this board for your ENGLISH. It is better than many for whom it is first language.
What is your first language?

Listen to Infamy off the Columbus 2005 boot. He sings better then he has in years. It's even better than the original. I think the funky horns gives the song a new bluesy, jazzy shuffle that Keith seems to really convey in his singing.

He da man!

i've been listening to a bunch of 81 concert boots today,
and i cannot begin to describe the elation that Keith's onstage backup singing in this period stirs in my sssoul -
he sure makes an IMPRESSION, don't he?! :E
and then when you recover from that ... just listen to the lovely rumpled silk he's pouring out in the studio around this same time.

that's Keith Richards, baby. :E

Well; infamy is gettin better all the time.
Its gonna be ranked up there with Thru And Thru or even Miss You.
And I´m also talking about the studio version.

I dislike all three of these songs. Keith sounds like a defunct loo these days. Add "Nearness to you" and "Losing my touch" and you'll get pretty much of the Stones bottom 5 ever.

There is only one guy in the Stones who sings worse and that's Ronnie. I'm so happy Mick won't let Charlie sing. The latter being wise enough to keep his mouth shut when it's singing time. Thank you, Charlie!

You have got to be kidding me. He lost his voice 25 years ago. Smoking for 50 years will do that

The nearness of you is a masterpiece regarding feel and soulful voice. He sings like a God!

Is his voice is husky or melodious?

it's not an "either/or" deal.
how about "melodious and textured"?

His voice and Woody's voice got so bad that Jagger had to hire backup singers for the '89 tour. Good move.

Maybe he just didn't like the odour of their vodka breath when sharing the microphone with one of 'em. Bernard isn't allowed to drink during the tour, as far as I know.
