This tune I don't get it. Nobody seems to dislike or "bash". Not sure if people love it or where it stands in their great catalogue. Is it ok cause its on Exile?
To me 2/10 or D-. Thats ok I guess as I love above 90% of their stuff. Is it a well structured song? unique? What is the appeal? Please enlighten me o diehards!! MEZ
Maybe one should not approach this tune the way you do a 3 minute rocksong with intro-verse-chorus etc. It's a sketch; a vignette. Sums up a mood of a room on a night. I think it is @#$%& incredible. It was part of a long jam that supposedly Keith directed from behind the electric piano. Love the vibe of the swampy gloom. The ooh oohs sound like flutes while the two basses rumble down under. Love the way the percussion is recorded. Then when Jagger comes in just clapping and chanting. This is music at it's finest.
As a song it is a 2 out of 10 but it's ok on the album. Also I like the religious statement (don't wanna talk about Jesus, just wanna see his face - the ultimate argument against these @#$%& Christians). At last it is Tom Waits' favourite Stones song.
10/10 Essential stones. Unfortunately the "pop song format" is so radicated (both in the musicians and the public) that most of these great grooves remain "in the can" or are edited out (butchered) from the final product.
Do you want to know why Face is great?
Relax, have a few beers, play it LOUD on the repeat mode, and DANCE!!!
Sounds like the guy who can't hear a difference. There so many of them out there. They are calling themselves Stonesfans going "Rating a Stones song wot? Give it a 10!"
It's like the soccer fans boasting out "WE won the game! WE won the game!"

Oh, you are totally wrong. E.g. "Miss You": I would give 4/10 only, ok?

hello mr Lynn here we go again I give it a 7.5 nice experimental song if you listen carfully to it you hear so many things I like that experimental side of the stones
Great song. 8/10. It may not be a "proper" song (verse/chorus/verse) but it has great atmospherics. I like the funky gospel feel and the (anti) religious message "I don't want to talk about Jesus, I just want to see his face." Definitely a nice mood piece that fits in well with the whole tapestry of Exile.
