Want to know the reasons

Well they're not really together to be able to split up.

They have a gathering every few years and tour usually behind an album that's taken them only a few months to make.
Well that's the last 20 years anyway.

Nobody would ever announce them splitting up I don't think. I think they'd just stop touring or either Mick or Keith (touch wood) dying might lead one to assume they'd called it quits.

But anything's possible I guess when you love money.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

Reminds me of an old joke:

Why did Robert Redford stick his cock in a jar of Paul Newman's Pasta Sauce?

Well, afterall, Mr. Redford and Mr. Newman have been friends for 40 years, do you think he's gonna stick his cock in a competitors?

Why should they? They love what they do, and their love for music keeps them rolling. And we should be grateful that they still do with such an enthusasm.

Money. MOney and money and their egos. They have nothing else. Mick has been trying to be something he isnt (film producer, actor etc) but he's stuck with being Mick Jagger so why not make a buck or two? And girls. And competition. And beiong onstage. They get their kicks on Route 65 starting with Satisfaction.

Money is not the reason. They will earn billions just from the royalties whatever they decide to do...

Because they don't live in each others pockets and get breathing space when there's friction and they don't have a punishing schedule dictated to them.

For those that think it's about the money...you've got it wrong. It stopped being about the money 20 years ago. The Stones (at least Mick and Keith) have descendents into the 22nd century with more than enough money. I firmly believe it's about the love of the music. It can't be easy for artists of their ages to deliver a show with the intensity of the show I witnessed Wednesday in Philly. As for ticket prices, re-issues, live recordings etc....that's just capitalism at work, which is a subject for another thread.

They will never split up, but they will stop playing if the critics on this board becomes the common one. But, luckyly, most of the concertgoers still enjoy
the band.

THE ROLLING STONES now and THE ROLLING STONES then are different.Actually on 60s they were more a pop band with rock touch but from 70s they became rock and roll. There decadent began from 1978.Well I'm a fan of them but I feel they have detoriated a lot

If you were one of the Stones, would you want to spit up? I wouldn't!

They have become better with age IMO. It's just in a different way. Mark my words: In 20 years, when the Stones are probably dead and gone (Except Keith grinning smiley), you will praise Voodoo Lounge and the latter stuff, ABB too, as being some real fly shit. Hell, people may even like Biggest Mistake grinning smiley. The fact that a record has been there for 20 odd years makes your perspective on it change. And it will be seen upon as being even better than it is now.

How do I know this?
I'm from the young generation who grew up with the super fast world. So brandy, to me, only needs half an hour on a table to be as good as any brandy you'd find in your average sunken pirate ship. And I can see that ABB will become better with age, because it's already aged very well to me. grinning smiley

Now STOP LAUGHING!!!!!

Keith = Stones, without it he's dead. Mick doesn't want that. That's why he's touring.

Well, I agree about Mick, but my ears don't find Keith's playing improving at all...

Biggest Mistake already is a great song, maybe the most personal on the whole ABB record. Don't know why so many people on this board bash it.

The Stones are still around because they can still make good music and they WANT TO MAKE IT. It's as easy as that. Let's hope they release some more albums of new songs in the future.

Oh, and I'm from the younger generation, too.

Because the Stones love what they do, as job and as aim in their life.
Because million of people love what the Stones are doing.
Because only the Stones are able to attract 22 million people at their concerts during 15 years. (Yes, during the years of …“deterioration”, 1989-2003. And still adding…).
Because they are the best and popularest live act in the world.
Because they are able to make a great album (ABcool smiley after 43 years of career.
Because despite the bad, if not non - existent, promotion, ABB was #1 on the chart of the worldwide sales during two weeks (last week #8), while a lot of famous rock bands, some of them “legendary names” in the 80s and 90s, are seeing their sales waning a lot. Just see the sales of the Simple Minds album. Also, the sales of the last Pearl Jam and Oasis albums, both best selling bands in the 90s…

But, who knows, perhaps there is another one reason…

Perhaps the Stones are in the sulks seeing on this board a bunch of “fans” (a) nagging about everything (b) very often denying themselves, saying and unsaying (we can discuss about it another time). Who knows…

only death will end this group. I fully expect to be paying (even more) exorbitant sums of money to see Mick and Keith sitting on a couple of stools playing their hits at Carnegie Hall in about 15-20 years!!

1. They love playing, they're still able to, and people want to see them, so why not?

2. The fame, the ego boost, the pussy and the cash are some nice bonuses!

Hunger for their music and their chemistry!

I say despite all other thoughts on this one!
I think the guys have something that we mortal fans don't understand and that is, despite arguments, fights and other conflicts during the acid past, they have an enormous friendship in between them and musical roots that bring them together!

That is the reason why they haven't split up after all!
That is something we fans should pick up and start thinking about before we bash each other on this forum.

Well, then you might say, where comes the dollars in? Well it's in there too but that is just because they can earn money on something they're good at!

I think if we were in the same position ourselves we would do exactly the same thing. They have someting unique to give us and we dearly hook on the bite!
I'm one of the fans doing so and I love the records, the tours and I'm proud of being a Stones fan after all these years!

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!
