I think Nico is incorrect on this (rare) occasion. I distinctly remember that show taking place. My birthday is 30th May and I'd have remembered had it taken place the same day..lol. It was on the evening of the 31st.
Maybe its just a typo on Nico's part. Every other account of this show I've ever seen lists it as the 31st.
I was at the venue two years ago when Mick Taylor played there the night between the Stones' Astoria and Wembley Arena shows. Its a very jazz-orientated place, going by the posters and memorabilia all over the club (I bought a cool t-shirt, and the logo is a trumpet, so they're still evidently very much steeped in their jazz tradition)
Of course, in later years it also became associated with the fledgling punk scene in the mid 70's with the Sex Pistols and other acts playing it.
Its actually not an ideal venue for rock music. Very low stage (floor level) and lots of pillars. probably works better if everyone is seated, however - so more suited to jazz I guess
here's a pic of a few misfits from Rocks Off after the Taylor show. I'm at the front with the blue and white shirt. The guy beside me in the red shirt who is wishing he was somewhere else is Bjornulf
