semi OT: Best Musical Bridges

The Stones have some excellent bridges - Rocks Off, If You RWTBM Friend...

But who is the master of the soaring, unexpected bridge?

Pete Townshend created such well crafted songs, with beautiful bridges that always led where they needed to go. Particularly in the Empty Glass, Face Dances, ..Chinese Eyes era.

Arctic Monkeys too are pretty great at bridges. Catchy pop that suddenly veers off in an odd direction.

Stones or others - take me to the bridge!

Shattered.

Before They Make Me Run is practically the same bridge.

Out Of Tears.

Rocks Off.

Loving Cup.

Hey Negrita.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Is "bridge" the same thing as "C-part"..?

I Got The Blues - "every night you've been away..." - is that a bridge?
It's a good one anyway.

You got to hand this one to Lennon & McCartney & Harrison. It's endless;
Take the albums "Hard Days' Night". It is one magnificent bridge after another. "Things we said to day", "Ill Be Back" title track "If I Fell"...

"I love you" in 'Michelle", just brilliant; going into the solo
"Something"
"while my guitar weeps"
"You won't see me"
"Norwegian Wood"
"With a little help from my friends"
How about "She Said She Said" and the odd meter?
"I Am the Walrus"

These bridges are so famous; they have their very own history.

Some of their very best are on those early obscure songs, when they felt they had to add a middle 8; like "All "Ive got to do" or "Hold me Tight"

I liked the original bridge that actually came shooting out from the stage and extended to the center stage on the early B2B tour. That was a cool musical bridge. Then they went to a permanent walkway... but watching the original bridge with its head light extend/retract was a fun prop.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water"?

Seriously, "Nights On Broadway" is excellent.

Stoneswise, "Slipping Away" is hard to beat - All I want ...

On a related not, I have trouble writing decent bridges to songs I write.

Yes crholmstrom - Nights On Broadway is spectacular, a pining, gentle touch before it starts getting doomier and leads us back into the mean lonesome funk of the chorus. It is just perfect, and so much fun to sing (badly) along to!

David Lee Roth spoke right through some of Van Halen's beauties!
'Panama' plus 'And the Cradle Will Rock' come to my mind...

"Have you seen Junior's grades?"

Ah, jump out of Africa
With a step that looks so bold
Ah, when you're kickin' high
It make my blood run cold

On Keys to Your Love, the way the bridge resolves back to the main part of the song sounds really nice.
