Figures from the world of music have paid tribute to Mark Hollis, frontman of the band Talk Talk, after it was reported that he had died at the age of 64.

With Hollis as its singer and creative mastermind, the group made a name with 1980s hit singles such as It’s My Life, Today, Talk Talk and Life’s What You Make It. They progressed to albums like Spirit of Eden, which was hailed as a “masterpiece”, and Laughing Stock. - The Guardian

Oh man, sad...I did like this song very much when it was released in '83, and the video was on MTV quite often at the time.

It's My Life

RIP Mark Hollis

Great singer. Left the “machine,” family being more important. Thanks for the music Mark.

Sad. Talk Talk one of the UKs most underrated bands along with XTC.

Your radio station will play "It's A Shame" today but "Life's What You Make It" is far superior song. Listen to this one instead. winking smiley

He was the younger brother of Eddie & The Hot Rods manager Ed Hollis.

RIP Mark - a true visionary. Without Talk Talk, no Radiohead.

I remember the first time I heard Gwen Stefani's version, I thought it sounded vaguely familiar. Also, I thought it was way too good of a song to have been written by Gwen Stefani.

Sad to hear this - he was a great talent. I agree the band was underrated - had
the pleasure of seeing them several times in the mid 80’s. There performance
stuck with me and I still listen to their music. RIP

"Living In Another World"

A great pop song (with a great organ by Steve Winwood, btw)
