Souldnt sleep... Felt something wasnt right.
Last I heard (check Rocks Off or Shidoobee for yourself)
was that - some 15 minutes ago - the concert was bound to
re-start 'after 10 minutes' (=about now)... AFter the evacuation.
And at those neighbouring boards they say
(at least I read so at Shidoobee) the Stones was safe.

From Shidoobee:

"Something happens with ronnie, Mick comes to mic and announced 10 min beak On stage AND floor people evacuated, cops with dogs surround stage, bomb threat, on stage are still evacuating, people left their stuff on floor"

LJ.

---

More threats than real bombs sofar (as I got it),
May God see to that it continues that way.
And that the threaters get their tough punishment.

Baboon now climbs up his tree.

QUOTE "The full text from Shidoobee:

9. Night Time 9:30

BAND INTROS

Begining to set up keith , ronnie says something TO MICK,

Something happens with ronnie, Mick comes to mic and announced 10 min beak On stage AND floor people evacuated, cops with dogs surround stage, bomb threat, on stage are still evacuating, people left their stuff on floor
aNNOUNCEMENT:THE CONCERT WILL RESTART IN 10 MIN BUT MUST STILL LEAVE "

My interpretation; something is misunderstood in Dougs textmessage.
"Something happens with Ronnie" seems to mean something like:
"Has he broken a string or slt.".
.. This part seem to have grown out of proportion at the other boards.

Just talkin to myself here... If 60,000 people are going to be evacuated; wouldnt that take more than 10 minutes... ?
Quite chaotical now; many contradictory messages aoround at the boards...

(Baboon: As long as noone is hurt and no bomb has blasted its a pseudo-event; ask - e.g. - the Londoners about bomb threats. Like eating porridge.
Hope all are ok & that they can start it all over...
It definitely looks that way now... )

from shidoobee:

From the Charlotte Daily Progress --local newpaper's website
Quote:

After a 45 minute break attributed to technical difficulties, the Rolling Stones prepared to resume their concert at Scott Stadium. Daily Progress reporter Bob Gibson said authorities took three dogs on and off the stage during the break and have allowed people on the first 20 rows in front of the stage to return. The concert was expected to resume shortly.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, about an hour into the Rolling Stones concert, Mick Jagger announced that the band had been told by authorities they needed to take a 10-minute break because of a technical problem.

Afterward, several police officers appeared on stage with dogs.

Several thousand people seated on the field were evacuated, and the dogs sniffed around the stage and the field in front of the stage.

A security officer told the Times-Dispatch that there was no immediate danger.

At about 10:05 p.m., an announcer thanked the fans for their patience and said the concert would start again in 10 minutes.

Probbaly some crazed, overzealous wingnut republican pissed at Mick for singing an anti-Bush song threatening to blow them up for speaking their mind. It's not too cool to do that these day in the US, you know.

(ducks)
((awaits the pissed off replies from people pissed off at me for indirectly attempting to turn this into a political thread))

Us republicans can be pretty crazy (way to go tom for setting the moral example!), but i think free speech is more prominant now than ever! US citizens are just as tolerant as people on this board! tongue in cheek...

what did they do with the people who had On-Stage seating?

We now have confirmation:

It was a Swedish animal rights activist (Lesbian animals only) who called in the bomb threat.

Hey, the Stones rocked MCI so completely and thoroughly Monday night (I was there - and at Altamont in '69, I might add, and this is scarier) that I suspect some CIA employee attending tonight's show COULDN'T THINK OF A WAY TO MAKE THIS CONCERT ANY MORE EXCITING than by attempting to blow it up.

... BTW, my buddies who went to the show tell me everything was cool.

From a semi-aged geezer but newbie as a fan.
All your smartheads postin here; there w-a-s a sense of disaster for quite a while, no one outside the Scott Stadium (or inside??) knew whether the Stones
were hurt or not.

Please dont make this (or any other) a political thread. Those threateners most often tend to be isolated lunatics, according to my experience (bombs & ditto threats all over Europe while interrailing six times).

Maybe a threat-thread...

Yep, they seem to have stayed cool, calm & Collected.
Only the stage seats and some of the front rows
as I got it were evacuated.

Like our Lady Withsssoul I was pretty worried yesterday nite.

By the way: Kudos and Thanks to Shidobee and Baboon Pro for the "as it is happening" reporting the Charlotte threat. It felt like they were reporters for the Associated Press, putting out press bulletins. Good job keeping Stones fans informed.

I was there in the fifth row, and the crowd remained AMAZINGLY calm.

We just walked patiently back out of the A section seats, and the wife and I went up the the concourse to freshen up, walked back down to our seats, and got one of the most raucus endings to any Stones show in decades....

GREAT night, even with Bomb scares, pouring rain and traffic nightmares as bad as Giant Stadium...at least I wasnt driving. Took an hour to get back to our main road home!
