With respect to the kind of site you are on, and the various ages of many of its posters and readers, would you kindly care to describe the types and styles of music that some of your entries represent?

for me, by a long way, it is the Arctic Monkeys and 'Tranquillity Base Hotel and Casino'. A slow burning space rock opus, atmospheric and adventurous, I listened to this album every night (sometimes more than once) for several months in the sticky English summer.

It'd been a v e r y long time since an album had that effect on me.

Brazilian Girls - These guys, out of NYC, are so much fun; all albums by them are great. A muddier, spicier version of the Scissor Sisters.

Amen Dunes - 'Freedom' - great album; dude has charisma

Rolling Blackouts 'Hope Downs' - probably the best of year IMO

Spiritualized - 'And Nothing Hurt' - my favorite band

Low Cut Connie - 'Dirty Pictures Pt2" - Im actually surprised they've never been mentioned here because they fit in

Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper - like me love for Miley Cyrus, I;m a sucker for sappy stories and sagas

Primal Screams - "Give Out.." re-issue - I cant believe I forgot this one; Mr Echo reminded me

Interpol - 'Marauder'; like with Spiritualized's '18 album, Interpol doesn't really break new ground, but this album really grew on me. One thing that stuck out is that it goes up, rather than down. All albums today are front loaded, with hits up front, and then they tend to fizzle out. "Marauder' gets better as it goes in.

Betty Lavette - 'Things Have Changed'; only gets better

Marianne Faithfull - 'Negative Capability' ; Il;m glad she kind of is over the whole Kurt Weill thing; it was just too obvious.Good album, produced by Warren Ellis (Bad Seeds)

Starcrawler - 'Starcrawler'; young energetic; this is the opening salvo; the real stuff is still to come.

Willie Nelson - 'Last Man Standing'

Also "Simmering' by Shame, '13 Rivers' by Richard Thompson, 'Oxnard' by Anderson Paak, 'A Brief Inquiry...' by The 1975

I know I;ve forgotten some good ones. Also, now there are so many re-issues, or outtake albums, box set type things that are not new music but fantastic nevertheless. Bob Dylan's Bootleg series being one example.

One artist who I am starting to dislike is Bruce Springsteen. He talks about himself just a little too much.

yes - I went through some of the re-issued material that camer out in one form or the other: Beatles, Hendrix, Coltrane, the Band, Guns 'n Roses, Dylan, Lennon. This is about as A-List as can be. So newer acts are in heavy company
