Well yes obviously that most of them are not open G, but I saw that much of the thread had morphed into open tuning period.Quote

What do you guys think of the acoustic tracks he did around 68 and 69?
Prodigal Son
You Gotta Move
Factory Girl
Downtown Suzie
You Got the Silver
Salt of the Earth
If You Let Me
Downtown Suzie is the only one in open G, but it was played by Ry Cooder (where the in-between licks later to be heard on HTW with Keith were featured)..
I don't remember what's open E or open D on the remaining songs right here and now, but I believe PS and YGM were open D and YGTS and SOTE open E.
If memory serves, there weren't any open G-tracks from Keith until HTW. We were debating whether he had removed the dark E-string on the Hyde Park-gig or not. The beast was still fresh

Im wondering about "Feel on Baby", and "Pretty BeAT uP".
One can almost assume that all songs that have Jagger playing guitar, or as main writer up to '80 have an open tuned guitar.
The Pathe Marconi outtake boots are full of open G songs.

Ronnie is in standard
Keith is in open G
Keith is standard. Ronnie is playing slide in open G, and there's also another guitar that's most likely Mick thats in open G.
also on Little Red Rooster, Ronnie is 100% open G. Just watch him at the Knebworth or Oakland 2013 versions and try what he does in open E and you'll see what I mean. It's most certainly open G.
Ronnie is playing a pedal steel. The other clean-sounding rhythm guitar that comes in a couple of times (probably Keith) is also in standard tuning.

You may actually be right about Ronnie playing a pedal steel. I didn't catch that, But i'm referring to the slide you hear in the intro of the song. And i'm certain the other clean guitar is open g. It really sounds like it is to my ears.

The I-IVs are done with four strings in play, not five (no A-string). That tells me it's in standard.
As well as Keith since they both have 3 guitars in them. I think Mick is in standard with his rhythm on those songs though.Quote

It's Mick on Silver Train and Crazy Mama.

What's the third guitar in ST? I hear Mick on open G and Taylor on slide.
On CM it's Mick on open G, Keith on the licks in standard tun8ng and Ronnie on the solos towards the ending.

No, there are many examples of the opposite: Winter, Fingerprint File, Most of Some Girls and Emotional Rescue etc.

Nt sure I understand your post. That is standard tuning he is playing in. They take it to Bm on live stage. On IORR it is in Cm. I just meant earlier that although it is in standard Jagger;'s voicings are so rudimentary he may as well be in open.

You speculated in whether it could be open tuning on FF on IORR
Could have been anything with those three chords, but most likely standard on both occasions.

I play YGTS with E tuning capoed at first fret,so it is F and that sound very good.

Isn't that Jagger playing the rhythm guitar part in OpenG and Keith the lead guitar in standard?

Good call. This is what I meant earlier - I think Jagger likes open tuning because it is easy for him to sing over when writing.Quote

Pretty sure Sweet Black Angel are standard (both guitars). Wild Horses was mentioned earlier.
