AC/DC the same.

Mathijs

Are you sure about this? There are pix of Cliff with IEM's but I thought Angus still has rows of wedges onstage turned up really loud...

I think it's unnessary intentional provacation to put 'real' 'piano' and 'chuck' in a thread title here. I'm susipicous; but not altogether convinced,
at first I thought you just did this to hurt me other fans.
Not reading ANY of it, sorry. not even reading THIS back before hitting'post,'
in silent protest.
to give credit where it's due; he IS a LOT less plinky than the 80's
when I was trying to have him deported/ sorry Chuck; i go5 over it,
why can't you?

Because it is a pain in the ass. For all tours except for 1976 the promotor had to arrange a tuned piano for each gig -they didn't travel with a grand piano. Mic'ing it is a problem on those big stages nowadays as well.

The Stones are on of the last big bands to even have amps on stage. These days its all about amps backstage with speakers in baffled cabins, and the musicians having each their own mix in their in-ears. For me it makes it too sterile. Guns and Roses on stage these days is too sterile -they all have in-ear systems, there's no amps on stage anymore, they don't hear the audience clapping or shouting, they don't hear each other unless you say something in a microphone. AC/DC the same.

Mathijs

Mathijs I’m not a musician, or music technician. Seen Pearl Jam Sunday in Prague, but I do believe they have amps on stage, but correct me if I’m wrong.
Chris

At least Mick and Daryl are using in-ear monitoring as well, don't they?

Simple solution - source it locally ala the choir, snooker table, catering, etc.

The Faces did - Mac has a story about destroying one because it wasn't a Steinway.

Turned out it was a Steinway, after all - but Mac didn't know the brand history/models winking smiley

I bought that album the same day I bought my first Stones album - Made in the Shade.
Chuck used to be such a great player, and he really shines all over that album with Jessica being another standout track

Yes - Could say Dicky Betts saved the group when Duane died he wrote great songs along with Greg and then was kicked out of the band and they still played his songs.

I agree OpenG, and Dicky's Rambling Man might have been their biggest hit?

Dicky Betts was born a Ramblin' Man...tried to make a living and doing the best he can...
And when it's time for leavin', he hopes you'll understand
That he was born a ramblin' man...
