Too bad the referee is partial for france.
Jeroen

Sorry??????? I think he is a great referee and he is impartial.

Sorry!! I dont
Go Crotia
Jeroen

It's ok!
I know him very well from my local tournament!
The referee is probably the best of the tournament.

When corriecas dares to say that he was in favour of France is strictly nonsense and ridiculous.

Croatia made many fouls with some agressivity and they were not blamed while France got 2 yellow cards.

Well, the free kick that lead to goal #1 was nothing. The penalty decision was dubious.

Very important decisions that went in favour of France, imo.

France deserved the title for their cynicism, professionalism and efficiency, though. Congrats, France!
Totally disagree with you about "important decisions that went in favour of France".

What's going on guys ?
Is it a Scandinavian riot against France ?

Cynicism is on your side.
It's sad to see so much Bad faith and hatred.

Whaat??

I'm afraid you are wrong here, Jpasc95. But I guess it's provincialism. Happens to us all. A majority of experts thinks that the penalty was wrongly given. It's a pity that it was so decisive for the game. The Croatian goalie was remarkably bad in this game. Did he even make one save in the whole game? He wasn't near on any of the goals. And the French goalie did an own goal. Remarkable in a WC final.

Provincialism ?
I'm afraid you did not watch properly. It is really bad faith not to admit there was penalty.
Are you a friend of corriecas ?
you seem to be exasperated like him that France won.
I'm sorry but you're gonna have to deal with it

I'm french and think there was no penalty. Ball is going to hand. The player had no time to avoid this situation.
For me Croatia and Belgium made a better football than France. Griezmann said that, no matter the way they win, the most important is to win...

Congratulations to France for winning the World Cup!

I did not see many games, but I saw some great football still this summer. I remember Kane on overtime in a pub the evening before the Twickenham show, also other games seen on TV's in pubs and places around in Europe the past ferw weeks. It is always great with World Cup and Stones tour at the same time - many emotions - strong feelings among fans - and in the end, only one team can win the cup unfortunately.

sorry but I don't agree with you for the penalty.

Have a better look here [www.youtube.com]

Perisic made a move to touch the ball with his left hand.
To avoid penalty, he should've kept his arm close to his body.
THat's not what he did.

Re: OT: The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

Here: It's impossible for a defender to glue his arms to the body in all situations. Especially when jumping up and down on fixed situations. The ball reflects on the French player on to the arm/hand of the defender. No way he was going to escape that. No one denies the touch. So technically it's a penalty. And after consulting VAR the referee decided it was. But the referee always has the benefit of doubt. All the experts I have listened to (former refs and players) all says the penalty was to harsh. That the referee should have let it pass. They think that in a World Cup final the prerequisites for a penalty should be stricter. I do understand, however, that there isn't much talk about this in France since you're all in a jubilating mode. Rightfully so. Once again, congrats to France. In the end you deserved the cup!

Antoine Griezman is criticized after his strange behaviour after the harsh penalty. He danced around and made the "L" sign to the audience. L for loser.
Turns out it's from a computer game he plays when he's not on the pitch. I think one has to bear in mind that many players are just kids. Very rich kids!

About the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) I tend to agree with Blatter; who criticizes Infantino on this. You shouldn't introduce such a complex new system in a World Cup. Especially since no one has worked out methods on when to use it. I'm afraid the penalty in the final was an example of that. In my view the VAR should only be used in certain situations. Such as to decide whether the ball was over the line or not. Like in ice-hockey.

VAR has been officially introduced and widely experimented last year in the Italian Serie A, that is one of the main tournament in Europe.

Though there has been a handful of cases in which it has given off to some doubtful decisions and arguments, it has been almost unanimously considered as a wide improvement having
1) given penealties that would have been previously gone unfairly denied
2) denied penalties that would have been previously gone unfairly granted
3) given goals that would have been previously gone unfairly denied for mistake in judging off side
4) deniedgoals that would have been previously gone unfairly granted for mistakes in judging off side position
5) sanctioned with red card unnoticed unfair play

no doubt, it's a significant improvement
It's not perfect, human mistakes are always possible but there will be much less than before.

England Turns On Mick Following World Cup Loss
Posted by: exilestones ()
Date: July 28, 2018 13:31

From my friend Dan:

England Turns On Mick Following World Cup Loss

Mick Jagger is once again being blamed for England’s elimination from the World Cup tournament.

The Rolling Stones‘ singer was in the Moscow stadium Wednesday when England lost to Croatia. He was also on hand four years ago in Brazil when the Three Lions bowed out.

Also fueling the theory are his social media posts about the games he attends and his solo song from last year, “England Lost.” In it he sings, “I went to see England, but England’s lost, and everyone said we were all ripped off.”

No word if Portuguese or Italian fans are also blaming him for their teams’ ousters after he predicted they would win their matches while performing with the Stones in Lisbon and Rome.

What absolutely ridiculous superstitious nonsense. England lost to a much better team in each of the 3 matches they lost. Only the players were in a position to prevent that and they weren’t up to the job.

Though good, they weren’t brilliant and they reached the Semis with a very kind draw.

To blame the outcome on the presence of one particular spectator is ludicrous.

i said before the tournament, england would struggle to create chances with rahim sterling in attack.

The media done england no favours by praising a guy who has no end product. He is nowhere near the finished article, he rarely finishes a chance, he rarely spots the right pass for others to finish, if you want an england attack to break down give sterling the ball, he has tunnel vision, on too many times he invites a tackle but dosent do anything to prevent it, like pass the ball. his decision making is appalling, and he is greedy. he messed a chance v sweden when the easy option was to pass for what would have been a certain goal. against croatia he had a chance to stretch for the ball and square it across the face of the goal, yet he opted to get it under control for himself, by the time he got control the chance to shoot was gone as defenders had closed in, but he still went for it himself, again denying england a chance to score. to make matters worse he waltzes about the park with a big grin on his face as if hes doing something good.

England had other weaknesses but sterling is the main reason england only created 6 chances on target from open play in the first 6 games.

why pick someone with no end product.

easy option is to blame mick jagger

sorry to sound so harsh but people delude themselves about sterling.

I agree with you there, Buttons. But how does he end up in the national team? Surely, he must do something good in his club team? Or is the Premiership so bad
that even mediocre players makes it for the national squad? I heard Manchester City signed him for £49 million. For a player with no end product?

England were getting knocked out of World Cups long before Mick started supporting them.

England hasn't turned on Mick .

He is still an icon and living legend over here ,and the World Cup and all that happened with the Tournament is all old news now.

France were the winners and England were just not good enough to get to the Final.

That's life.

Really credible news source there.

Yep. Jagger's influence has upset people far more than Brexit, NHS cuts, Islamic State and the recent Trump visit combined.

Apparently there's a mass rally planned in Trafalgar Square next weekend.

What a load of rubbish. The trouble is that having invented the Jagger Jinx, the papers will resurrect it every time the poor man attends a match, and as Hairball says, they'll have the superstitious among the players believing it.

Re: England Turns On Mick Following World Cup Loss
Posted by: Stoneage ()

False. Papers didn't invent the Jagger jinx. Brazilian football fans did. Ever heard of pe frío? Of course it's superstition. No one denies that. Except those who believes in it.
But the phenomena still exists. Even if it's superstition. It would be foolish not to acknowledge that. I'm sure Sir Michael is very aware of it.
