The Stones Still Have their Groove!!!!!!!!!!
Date: September 24, 2005 05:06

I have now gone through my Stones ritual before rating the CD;

1) played this CD many many many times
2) cranked the volume to the max (Like they suggest) and
3) Pounded lots of beers.

Having completed the ritual I think its an excellent CD/album for the first 12 songs. I think the problem is they have such a vast fan base that they seem to feel the have to appeal to all groups (the last 4 songs). I am amazed that they can still hang with any group at over 60 years old - they are and will always be the greatest RRB

1)RJ - classic cranking song, could be on EOMS album
2)LMDS - great follow-up song!!!!
3)IWTL - O'kay
4)RFD - Clever song - I hear a lot of "BTZ"
5)SOL - Another great ballad.
6)BOMH - Add it to list the many great blues songs they have written
7)SSMC - Downright nasty!!!!!! Killer song.
8)BM - This songs keeps growing on me.
9)TPIE - Keith is such a great writer.
10)ONNYA - O'Kay
11)DM - Charlie is good tonight!!!!! Great Watts song -
12)LIND - Very cool song.
13-16) - My feeling not as strong

I agree that overall it is an excellent album. I think you're right that RJ and BOMH are standouts, as are SSMC and TPIE. And Biggest Mistake is growing on me as well; still not crazy about it but hated it at first.

Can't agree with you about ONNYA, Look What the Cat Dragged In and It Won't Take Long - I think those are outstanding as well. I do agree that Driving Too Fast and Infamy are not a good way to end the album - they are ok, I'd say good but not great, and I wish they had been left off. Don't see how you can like Streets of Love, though. Crap, pure, utter, total crap.

At first I was not happy with the way Mick was singing LWTCBI at the start of the song so I moved on (Cardinal Sin).

But you got me to go back and give it a few more spins. Reptile and Knut, I hear what you are saying - Wow - the guitars are sounding awesome. My bad!!! It is a kick ass song!! Even DTF is starting to work better. SNC and Inf are Ok - but that could change.

I would have to say they have totally delivered on this CD!!! In fact I think this is their best since SG/TTY and I really liked VL - but this CD is so complete. The timing and space on LMDS is perfect.

Very satisfied with this CD!!!

But I was drunk when I heard all the other Stones albums, don't I have to be drunk when I hear this one just to give it a fair test? smiling smiley

ONNYA has just jumped up the chart. Wow - do I hear Chuck Berry in the house!!!!!

If Chuck's in the house, make sure your wife or sister looks around for hidden cameras when she goes to the crapper...
