What' s Your Pre-concert Ritual?
Posted by: camper88 ()

I'm going to the show on Monday in T.O. and I'm starting my preconcert ritual by going through an all-Stones-all-the-time playlist in my car, ipod, and home stereo, Then I'm going to watch a Flicks concert tonight, tomorrow night, and once again on Sunday.
What's your ritual/ warm-up before a show?

Allow myself to get distinctly overwhelmed with excitement - but NOT to the point of losing my ticket or missing the show. And making sure my bladder is empty so I don't have to race out for a pee ! Always a great concern !

I pack days ahead, keep checking the list and suitcase to be sure I don't leae anything behind, play lots of Stones, look at old concert photos I've taken, check battery in camera, load up on film and stuff camera into makeup pouch, cover with lipstick, mascara and TAMPONS! Set to smuggle in! Get to train with enough time! PRAY ALOT!

Wait for the Back up group to get of the Stage before I enter the seating area.
I have never seen one for a Stones Concert.

Yes..absolutely wait for the warm up band to GTH outta there. I am so not into much of anything but the Stones when I go to a gig, that on the 40 Licks Tour in Detroit (we were there while the "warm up band" was playing), I had to ask my grandson, "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??" It was "No Doubt"...yeah, No Doubt it was.

One thing almost as important as making sure I have my ticket

Make sure my bladder is empty.

No piss breaks during Stones shows!

Actually, I find that surprising. Not the No Doubt thing but NO openers? I'd catch Wilco in Atlanta, and am delighted that Beck's opening in Toronto. I saw the Pretenders and Dr. John during Licks. What's wrong with that?

Talk thru the opening act if I hate 'em...and maybe if I like 'em too. Watch out Beck, I'm gonna talk thru your set! lolsmiling smiley

P.S. - Monday in Toronto should be good!

They need to play "Sweet Virginia", changing the lyrics to:

"Got to scrap the Beck right off your shoes....."

Beck's dancing percussionist was interesting in a "wtf" sort of way for a bit but that act quickly wore out.

Oh man, that's cold !!

Beck isn't any worse than the Goo-Goo Dolls, lol.

Since the 94 VooDoo comeback tour, the Stones have the record as having about the WORST warm-up bands of any major act on tour... anyone ever notice that ??

Well... there's a FEW lucky venues this tour... most notably...Seattle/Portland with Motley Crue and SanFrancisco with Metallica.
