Are you telling me Karen was only playing along with the records? I feel so cheated. Thank God I still have The Monkees.

Oh. Well in that case I'd have to say "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll."

I still watch that Live Aid performance just to crack up.Quote

Say what you will about Phil Collins, but he was/is a great drummer with whoever happened to be playing bass with him forming a great rhythm section (except when he played with Led Zeppelin at Live Aid lol).
Maybe not underrated, but overlooked due to the less than praiseworthy view of him as a singer/songwriter - be it post-Gabriel Genesis or his solo career.

It always seems to me people see the word "underrated" and transcribe it to "greatest."

Dee Murray & Nigel Olson from Elton’s early years. Especially the live 1970 album.
Yes I agree Cooter. Of course the Swampers and the Crew and the JBs etc were the best of the best.Quote

Do you know one single person who underrates those rhythm sections?

Joe Osborn and Karen Carpenter.
I defy anyone to top that.
In the studio it would of been Joe Osborn and Hal Blaine. But thank you for bringing up Joe Osborn. You can hear his bass on many, many records.
