Best remake of a Stones tune?
Date: September 22, 2005 21:47

I would say my favorite remake of a Stones tune is "Wild Horses" by Otis Clay.

Anybody knows "Paint it blue ?" It's a Stones cover album. It's really good. Some of the remakes are pretty inspired.

Great

Think - The Little Killers
Satisfaction - Otis Redding
Connection - Ramblin' Jack Elliot

Strange

No Expectations - The Dirt Bombs...Builds from Expectations to Sympathy
Andre's Blues - The Greasy Chickens..To Andre Williams but built around Andrew's Blues

Not real good

Let's Spend The Night Together - Teddy Brown & The Discolettes

I remember a cool cover version of "Claudine", have to look up my collection from whom it was. It's on a sampler called "Hard To Find On CD" or something like that...really obscure!

But otherwise: "Satisfaction" by Otis and "Wild Horses" by Gram, of course!

Another obscure (and cool!) one: "It's Not Easy" by Blue Öyster Cult - not available officially but on a BÖC bootleg tape.

And: Lone Justice (w/Maria McKee) did a fine "All Down The Line"!!!! Saw it in Hamburg, Germany mid eighties and got a recording from a similar US show - cool stuff! Quite unusual!

I like Paint it Blue and have a special place for Alvin Youngblood's Moonlight Mile.

Totally surprised me when I heard it. And I love the dobro.

Satisfaction by Tom Petty - pretty good rockin' version!

Jumpin' Jack Flash (electric version) by Guns N' Roses. They also did an acoustic version which sounds cool.

Wild Horses by the Sundays - very haunting!

It's Only Rock 'n' Roll by Bon Jovi.

Street Fighting Man by Oasis and the one by Motley Crue is neat too imo.smiling smiley

Is everyone forgetting David Bowie's version of Let's Spend the Night Together from Aladdin Sane? Better than the original.
