Not so bad: ABB 3-12 in Billboard

"Meanwhile, despite their ongoing mega-tour, the Rolling Stones saw A Bigger Bang, their first studio album in eight years, fall from Number Three to Twelve (63,000) in its second week."

Not so bad after all, I say a pretty decent second week because there are 7 new entries in the Top 10!
ABB has sold 192,000 copies in US to date.

Its a long way from 192,000 to a million seller.

Hopefully the tour will bring up sales in each town they hit this year. They really need to do some more promotion like hitting a show like SNL or something. A decent video on MTV might bring the new fans in too.

I mistakenly posted that the album fell to #14 in a previous post...I DO apologise...that was the final position on the HITS Daily Double that George Licks told us about...I guess there are differences with the Official Charts (or I read it wrong...a distinct possibility!!).

Is the album keeping apace with 'Bridges To Babylon' in sales, I wonder?

The HITS count it's preliminary and very close to the final numbers that appear on Wednesday/Thursday on Billboard/Soundscan. It's very common little differences in the final position with small difference numbers. Hits it's a good source.

Actually the sales were very impressive!
Hope final figures for ABB will be at least the same

I think someone already posted that but what is really missing to ABB is a blockbuster in some countries like was Start me up, Miss you or Angie. In some european countries, SOL is the one. Maybe that is what is lacking in the US.

So it's CH, AT, DE, SE where the Stones are 2nd week number one.
That's quite some sales.
And I am sure there will be more

Indeed, if they had that one big hit, these numbers would be different. The older they get, it harder it is. But Santana had a No.1 song 30 years after Woodstock, albeit with the help of a young hip singer.

Thanks for the info GeorgeLicks!...I had no idea 'Bridges to Babylon' sold that well consistantly week after week!! 'A Bigger Bang' is selling in its second week what that album was selling in its FOURTH week...not good at all.
Do you think it will eventually be certified platinum, or do you think it will end up being their first gold studio album in 40 years (if that even)?

It will reach Platinum for sure, they have US shows during the next 6 months.
B2B got the Platinum certification on week 5 with sales of 439,000, you don't need to sell a million for get the Platinum award, RIAA counts shipments.

This time next year it'll be dbl platinum in the US.
They'll catch on.

Anyway, hasn't it hit #1 in at least 15 countries already not to mention Amazon, World Charts and another mob like Amazon (can't think of their name off hand)?

Plus #2 in U.K, #3 in U.S and Australia (I'm ashamed), #4 in Japan.
Top ten in NZ and a heap of other countries.

Pretty amazing considering they're touring only two countries (one of which it did make #1) at the monent and have been recording for 42 years.

Not to mention (esp if it was three songs shorter) I think it's the best album in rock since Achtung Baby.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.
