Re: OT: Who Did You See In Concert In 2017?
Date: December 12, 2017 11:23
Of the 32 concerts I saw this year, here is my Top 11 list:
11.) Bryan Ferry, Hamburg: An un-expectantly good concert! Fantastic performance with many (obscure) Roxy Music tracks.
10.) Metallica, Köln: A band on my bucket list, but these guys are so GOOD! Not a Heavy Metal fan, but I enjoyed every minute. Really, a great band…
9.) Eddie Vedder, Berlin: Nice and moving concert under sad circumstances… Everyone felt happy and elated after the show!
8.) Bob Dylan, Hannover: Saw him three times this year, the other two concerts were very nice, this one was outstanding.
7.) The Who London (Royal Albert Hall), Performing Tommy: I love The Who! This was a nice Rock history souvenir in the Greatest venue of the world. Should have been higher on the list were it not for the obnoxious drunk old people in the front row…
6.) Elton John, Hamburg: Like Paul McCartney, he always puts on a great show. Amazing canon, fantastic musician, great set-lists. And he gives autographs during his concerts! A true legend, so glad he is still performing on this level.
5.) Ryan Adams, Berlin: Excellent concert, very focused, straight forward, in a great mood. The songs are always superb…
4.) Guns ‘N Roses, Hannover: Surprisingly authentic! Great Set-list, very long show (5 hours including a 1.5 hrs storm break) and Angus Young! Who can ask for more?
3.) Black Sabbath Köln, London: Great Band, great concerts, I am glad I caught them on their Farewell tour
2.)Rolling Stones, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Arnheim: As everyone here knows, the No Filter tour was a great success on so many levels. Performance-wise, the later shows might have been better, but Hamburg had the best set-list, and knowing I will probably never hear “Play With Fire” again, this concert will always be special to me… However, the best 20 or so minutes in live Rock music today must be “Midnight Rambler” and “Street Fighting Man” back to back. Unbelievable! Other highlights: “Dancing with Mr. D.” (really nice!), “She’s so Cold”, “Under My Thumb”, and the “Satisfaction” mayhem at the end of each show. The Greatest Rock ‘N Roll band in the world.
1.)Dinsosaur Jr, Bremen: The best concert of the year! Also one of the three loudest concerts of my life, but what a catharsis!!! Pure melodic noise.
Runner ups: U2, Joshua Tree Tour; Lee Fields; Paul Weller; Herbie Hancock; Queens Of The Stone Age; Jamiroquai; Mark Lanegan; Magpie Salute; Kings Of Leon etc.
It was a very good year! Not one bad concert...
