Never heard a bad version of Cortez the Killer, but this newly released version from from Budokan, 1976 has an extra layer of thought-provoking intensity.
It's like hearing it new again for the first time...chilling storytelling amidst the calm atmosphere interlaced with an orchestra of electric guitars and wailing feedback...

Is that on the Budokan part? If so, that may be the show where the Horse (minus Neil) were on acid per Pancho interview.

Yes, live at the Budokan - final track, side 2.

From the Greedy Hand store description:

Side 1 of the album contains an intimate solo acoustic performance by Neil Young recorded at London’s Hammersmith Odeon.
Side 2 contains an electric live performance with Crazy Horse, recorded at the Budokan in Tokyo....

It's not technically a new release, Odeon Budokan was available as part of Neil Young Archives Volume II: 1972–1976 (2020):

Right - newly released stand alone, and first time on vinyl.

Tonight’s the night. Neil, Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, Niks Lofgren, and Micah Nelson, billed as The Santa Monica Flyers, are all set to perform tonight and tomorrow night to celebrate the 50th anniversary of when they (minus the late Ben Keith, who’s role will be reprised by Micah Nelson) opened the venue. Neil says they will perform two full albums of songs that date from before the Roxy opened. Maybe Time Fades Away and Tonight’s The Night? These should be amazing shows. Hoping that official audio and video emerges.

I'm a little disappointed, I threw my name in the lottery to buy tickets and wasn't picked. Two days ago I got an email saying I would get a chance to buy some last minute tickets. Unfortunately, the flights and accommodations had gone through the roof. Anyway, hope it's a great show for those attending and that Neil feels energized to tour more.

I was going to down with $200 in my pocket just in case but the Covid testing rules kinda blew a hole in that and it was a longshot anyway.

$1000 before fees. Service fees were about 200-300, I heard. I was tempted because it would be a dream concert for me. To see that lineup, in that venue, potentially playing a lot of TTN (my fav album).

So far they've played through the entire TTN album. Supposedly Neil said on NYA that they are going to play through 2 albums. I'm gonna guess the next album is Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

Thank you very much once again, and for that too. If it wasn't by your post I'd certainly missed it.

so did anyone ever become a member of the archives?
is it easy just to have it for a year and not be tied to some horrible subscription?
can it be done from Europe?

Hope this isn't old news but according to this source Neil has announced another new album to be released still this year:

(Translation from deepl.com)
Neil Young announces new acoustic album

Neil Young's new album will be something of an acoustic compilation album. The nearly 78-year-old singer-songwriter announced this in a press release. Before And After, as the album will be called, will be released December 8.
"Young has selected from his favorite songs in his catalog," the press release reads, "as if he were taking a journey through his musical history." The Canadian has re-recorded most of the songs.
The song If You Got Love is one of the new tracks on the album. Also on Before And After is a song Young recorded with his first band Buffalo Springfield. Comes A Time from 1978 also has a place on the album. The single reached the bottom of the charts in our country.

Listened to Before and After yesterday. Really enjoyed it. It's basically a shorted version of the concert I saw at Auburn last summer. Really enjoyed it then too.
