No Chuck Berry tribute

Was surprised we haven't seen them play a Berry number since Chuck passed. Any thoughts on this? Maybe the follow-up to B&L will be, instead of blues, a r&b, early rocker cover with some Chuck covers!

Go watch Hail Hail Rock and Roll,
one of the best tributes of all time and done while the man was still alive.

I don't think they care enough at this point.

Every riff in It's Only Rock'N'Roll is a tribute to Chuck.
As mentioned above, most of their career has been a tribute to Chuck.
Without Chuck, no Stones. Simple as that.

Would be nice to hear them play a Chuck song though. thumbs up

I said this in the Hamburg thread only to be ignored.

If Chuck Berry isn't worthy of tribute then nobody is. Also, it would have added another "new" number or one they haven't played for ages to the set.

Definitely!

However, back to what seems like a criticism (orig poster), considering how many of his songs they covered (back when they did mostly covers) and the times they played his songs live, and praised him in interviews etc., no one can question their love for Chuck's music.

These types of comments are baseless, people think these things up in their own head and then like to create a scenario that convinces them that the Stones are not respecting their old heroes.

Many artists have died, are the Stones required to get up and go to the studio each time it happens? There was no tribute song when BB King died either, or Muddy Waters, or Bob Marley (not for many years, anyway), or whomever else ...

I'm not sure when they last played a Chuck tune live but kind of wonder if, maybe, Keith lost some of his "fandom" for Chuck after they worked together. Kind of like the adage, "Never meet your heroes, you may not enjoy them as people"?

--- OR---

Another thought: After playing all of those tunes WITH Chuck Berry, he may not have as much of a desire to play them with The Stones.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Last time must've been on the Bridges Tour with Little Queenie. Or Route 66 in 2012. Berry did that, but it's a Bobby Trout song I think.

I post this one on “ End the gigs with Street Fighting man“ Maybe it’s better to post it here

I think something happen in the past between Chuck and the Stones that they didn't play any Berry songs for years.........maybe his son (I can't recall his name) can shed a light on this.............
