When was the last show in the 2nd biggest town, Birmingham? 1973?

Noy sure that's relevant but I believe so. There are no stadia in the area suitable for them to play in other than Villa Park and it's in an area with a lot of traffic congestion already.

There are plenty of other UK cities with suitable and big enough stadia though.

Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sunderland, Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff.

Take your pick!

I think it's relevant. That's comparable with not playing Hamburg for 45 years. Maybe it's too close to London for a huge concert.

I already said there are no venues suitable for a huge stadium concert there. The stadia it does have are selofm used for concerts although it does have 2 15,000 capacity indoor arenas.

Birmingham is 90 miles from London with fast train and road links. Hamburg is quite far from other urban centres, apart from Bremen.

Actually they played three times at Hamburg up to now...since 1973 if I'm not wrong.
Three shows in 44 years ( '98/'03/'07 ) isn't really that much.
Even Slane Castle got two shows within this timeline...

Hanover got the "Hamburg" concerts 1982-95, Kiel in 1976 (the show was actually scheduled for Hamburg).

Dartford free music festival July 2018. Mick and Keef's home town gets my vote for the final show.

Please no more seated on the floor Stadiums. If they charge £100 GA , £200 Gold and £300-£400 PIT , they will sell out 6-7 UK / IRE Stadiums no problem.

sc uk

Agreed. I really hate 'Seats on the Floor' shows. Ruins the atmosphere, imho. In the UK, it was standard at all stadium shows on the Licks and ABB Tours. Only the 2 indoord SECC shows in Glasgow in 2003 had free standing space on the floor.

The Pit then seats then GA on the floor at the 3 upcoming German shows doesn't look great if you ask me.

Just wondering, and preparing to apply for holidays next summer. Really want to catch the Stones UK gigs next year.

Maybe , my question is a bit too early???

Yeah well, my mind is racing and preparing for the european gigs.

Jeroen

Go and smoke a joint and relax

Nate

Rather go Freebasing with Ronnie.
jeroen

This isn't the least bit funny. Rather idiotic, frankly.

While it was intended as funny - freebasing isn't a party no matter how you look at it. It's like saying I'd like to do heroin in a sleazy basement with Keith, and hope one of us survives.

I'd highly recommend you smoke a joint and relax instead. thumbs upsmoking smiley

Thanks, I have chilled now and sorry if the post was not that funny.
