Lol...could never really get into either of them.
The only thing I really know from both is the theme song from the original Star Trek tv series as my older brother used to watch the re-runs all the time.
I do know some of the Star Wars theme, but can't figure out how...I think it was played on the radio back in the day? Same with the theme to Rocky?
I was way more in to Lost in Space...wish they would have turned that in to a monumental motion picture!

Actually, Star Wars was released 40 years ago.

The chapter name "A New Hope" was added to the title years later.

Is Star Wars the one with the space guy who gets accidentally frozen and wakes up the 25th century where everyone wears very very tight spandex?

I hate Star Wars. Maybe it's because I saw it on a night in 1977 when some of my friends were at Madison Square Garden seeing Led Zeppelin, and ever since then I've blamed that movie (unfairly or not) for the fact that I never got to go to a Led Zeppelin concert.

I think that's fair. I'd be kicking myself as well.

Depends on which LZ/MSG show you missed... The 1st few ones were very weak (acc. to bootlegs).

Yeah, but still...just to be able to say you saw LZ would be worth it (as someone who was -1 at the time).

Errrr, dang it I must have missed it!!! Goes to show how little of a nerdy sci fi fan I am. 1998 it says? I was hoping for one that was closer to the time the original aired(1965-68) so it would retain some cheesy retro feel - maybe from the early-mid'70s at latest. And one that had some of the original cast!!! I see some big name actors - William Hurt, Gary Oldman, et al, but for some reason I had never heard of it. Couldn't have been a blockbuster or they surely would have made sequel...but now you'll tell me there was indeed a sequel!!!eye popping smiley winking smiley

Is that the one where they were flying through space, hit a time wrinkle or something and wound up on a planet where things looked normal except for everything being really big and tall (even the dogs and cats were big) or was it that the main characters were really small?

Re Buck Rogers, let's not forget Pamela Hensley as Princess Ardala. As for Star Trek, I came to love the series version with Picard. I still have a life size poster of the late Leonard Nimoy as Spock along with an action figure of Spock given to me many moons ago.

The last three Trek films are far superior to the most recent StarWars methinks. Dialogue, even the way characters interact with each other Trek always did better and the writing for characters on the last three is excellent.

Generally I think Trek is better; there is a world of difference of course as Wars is broader, more black and white, while Trek more ambiguous and compelling i.m.o.

Star Wars takes place in the past.

Star Trek is set in the future.

One is fantasy.

The other, science fiction.
