OT - Once Was NOT Enough

Cribbing shamelessly from Mongoose's thread, what musicians would you see whenever you get the chance, travel across oceans for, return your empties to pay for tickets, miss your mother's birthday to catch a gig...or just see more than once. You get the idea.

Stones
Clapton
Neil Young
Elvis Costello
Emmylou Harris
Buddy Guy wasn't on my list but after his recent show here, he just might be.

Neil - anytime any venue.
Dylan - at least once when he's in my neck of the woods.
Stones - not so much urgency to see them as it used to be (especially at rip off prices)- maybe once if I can get in cheap.
Roger Waters - always spectacular sound and vision - mind boggling.
Jimmy Page - hoping to see him again some day one way or another.
Clapton - kind of sort of, I think I've seen him every time he comes to town since early '80s.
Jeff Beck - no questions, I'm there.
Steve Winwood - same as above.
ZZ Top - always a barrel of fun!

***At this point in my life, I wouldn't travel beyond my home turf in SoCal (except Vegas maybe) to see anybody...they need to come to me!

Another reason I said once was enough for the Stones in the other thread was the fans -- they were mostly drunk going in, some drunken idiot just cut in front of me at the T-shirt stand after I'd been waiting in line 20 minutes, and during the show some drunken old lady dancing in front of the seat next to me kept stepping on my foot. I've never encountered that sort of rudeness and stupidity at any other concert I've ever attended over the last 30 years. Love the Stones -- but their fans are a whole other story.

As for once is NEVER enough: The Who. Every show is different, and Pete Townshend's banter with Roger Daltrey and the audience alike is a joy to behold, always spontaneous and always fresh. Plus the fact that Pete Townshend never plays the solo to Love Reign O'er Me the same way twice.

I hear ya. Fans can be wildly annoying. Getting up and down for beer from the middle of the row during a song instead of waiting until between songs (and not even during Miss You); yelling at the band, who can't hear them and don't care but deafening others in the process; incessant pics and videos that they will never look at again and keep them from actually experiencing the show; taking endless selfies with the flash on and blinding everyone...and refusing to get off my lawn (said the grouchy old fart).

Shane MacGowan
Gary US Bonds
Weird Al
Gregg Allmän
Lyle Lovett
and JJ Cale if he were still with us.

Re: OT - Once Was NOT Enough

The Stones
Bob Dylan
Hanoi Rocks / Michael Monroe
The Cult
Status Quo
Dan Baird & Homemade Sin
Motorpsycho
Mick Taylor
King Crimson / Adrian Belew (A fantastic show in Oslo the other day, btw)
Lage Lund
Lucinda Williams

BTW, I'm not really a Neil Young fan, but I saw him once - with Booker T & The MGs as his backing band. That's probably one of the best top 3 shows I've ever seen. Won't dare to see him again. Nothing can top that show.

The only artist other than the Stones that I felt I had to see at every opportunity was Rory Gallagher.

Very sadly missed sad smiley

In my former post I left those out, who literally "can´t be seen" anymore for biological reasons (Elvis has left the building...).

Among those who still could perform I would like to add

Saint Jude, one of my favourite concerts I´ve seen so far.

I´m not sure yet, if Lynne Jackaman solo can hold the level that her old band set.

The Stones

Macca

The Who

I've travelled abroad (from the UK) to see all 3. Love their shows.

Lifelong Stones fan (I'm 50). I only saw the other 2 for the 1st time 2 years ago.

Re: OT - Once Was NOT Enough

Definitely Bruce Springsteen- I've seen the guy three times already and he's always just as great as the time before each time! Well, minus the 2016 River show... but he made up for it with 'Jungleland' and 'Rosalita'!

And I guess I'mm obliged to say the Stones...
