Rush - I get that they are great musicians, but I just can't listen to their music at all!

Also, guitarists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen; etc. from the too-many-notes-not-enough-soul school of guitar playing.

What passes for country music these days.

Mostly agree except Miranda Lambert, Eric Church and Chris Stapleton - and some of Dierks. The rest is pretty bad

Oh, and Rap.

I had a guy tell me one time that I didn't like Rap because I was racist. I asked him to explain all of the Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Prince, Sly Stone, George Clinton, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, BB King, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, james Brown, (and God knows how many others) in my music collection?

His answer was, "well, that's different". WTF???

I've been told that. Quite possibly true but I just can't get into his studio recordings. Just doesn't resonate with me at all.

Same here.
I probably wouldn't hate it, but why would I pay for and go to a show by someone whose music doesn't resonate with me?

Convert? Lol...that sounds kind of scary...like a cult - no thanks!

oasis. what utter boring drivel.

any rap or hiphop, its not music.

anything by whitney houston. if i want to hear the sound of a cat being strangled i would go do one myself.

there are loads more, i just dont get some peoples taste in music.

Well, I guess it's OK to kind of vent here:

ELO - Rock by the numbers. I have never understood the fascination with Jeff Lynne. There is no heart, no soul to their music, in my opinion.

Springsteen - I saw a show of his in 1985, he put on a great show. But, I have never liked his music.

Heart - A novelty act. Who can stand the screeching Ann Wilson?

There are so many more . . . But one man's pleasure is another man's pain.

Springsteen.

He's in it for all the good reasons. Wrote some good songs, but I really don't know why he's bigger than Mike + The Mechanics.
Seen him in concert. Hugely overrated too.

But as I said, he means well, so he can go on for his fans as far as I am concerned.

btw...
'what passes for country these days'... a phrase only used by people who don't listen to country these days. It's in very good hands (Sturgill Simpson, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Eric Church, Brothers Osborne, Cam, Ashley Monroe, Maddie & Tae, Andrew Combs, Caitlin Rose, Brad Paisley, Margo Price, Aubrie Sellers, Brandy Clark, Sunny Sweeney, Natalie Hemby,...
And a lot of oldies are still going strong.

I did. I haven't.

For me: The Smiths/Morrissey and Radiohead.

Yes The Smiths & Radiohead too.
I agree.

About the Smiths, Johnny Marr is a big Keith fan and a quite unique guitarist. That's true that the voice and lyrics could be seen as weird, I would say.

About Radiohead, I'm still high since the late 90's due to the Paranoid Android video winking smiley Most of their works is clearly not easy listening.

About rap, I had the chance to see Public Enemy in a festival, and it was really groovy !

Kate Bush, Boy George, the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Lady Gaga, Everything Heavy Metal, Joni Mitchell...

Green Day I can not stand. It's both: the music and the guys. Hate 'em.
And the Kinks I have never got. In some circles they are counted among the Great Ones; with Beatles and Stones. That must surely just be because they been around for some years.
Oh and REO Speedwagon. I like to watch them though. The guitarist in the 70s was the bomb. But that singer...I become fascinated by ow creepy he is. And nowadays, that hair.confused smiley

Radiohead could be a top band for me if it wasn't for those awful lead vocals.
I saw the Springsteen coments. With me it is the other way around: I like his studio output alright; it is the live stuff I do not like. First off there are two members in that front line that are superfluous.

I would say Bruce Sprinsteen.

Really can not feel Born To Run as a masterpiece.

LOL... that is funny. Nice come back...
It used to bother me when someone pulled out the "VAST GENERALIZATIONS" CARD to explain why I didnt like something, or someone. Now I just chuckle at how simple minded they must be to think that way.

Rap sounds to me like someone yelling at everyone all the time. It all sounds like they are Complaining Arguing Bitching Nagging getting all uppity gonna scream at everyone all the time.

Ive been to his concerts. I used to be able to take him (or leave him)(thought he had some good songs) but his whole shtick, his whole "I am blue collar working man", "we take care of our own", "I am one of you", "I feel your pain", his whole bullsht act wore thin..... it wore so thin that now I cant stand any of his crappy music. Even his stuff I used to like, now I turn the channel. He seems fake.

Hey! This complaining about stuff I dont like is not so bad.
No wonder people do it so often. It is cheaper than therapy grinning smiley

And then the fkg Eagles man... The Eagles suck! smoking smiley
