Do you think the Stones still have a soundboard recording of the Nicaraguan Benefit Concert?

The '72 Jagger look was great...but that tiara he wore in '73 just never worked for me...

Great stuff. Jagger looks pretty wired in that interview... Kinda twitchy!

By coincidence, I'm headed to Nicaragua on the weekend. Any sign of the Stones connections there, I wonder?

I should have been at that show, but I couldn't come up with the $35.

Great post, cheers. Didn't Jagger use that denim jacket in '72? Liked the previous feathered haircut better.

Great find Deltics!

I could watch 72-73 era Stones all day. Great to see an almost complete Brown Sugar. Seems as though in those days and probably for sometime after the press was allowed to shoot the first song? Seem to remember something like that . . . wish they didn't just center their attention on Mick, cause the band looks great. By the way, the crowd is a bit calm, anyone else catch that?

Good MSG 75 footage as well. Love the interviews with the people outside. One guy was a graduate student looking to buy a car and selling his $25 tickets for $35. Oh man, good stuff. Love hearing from the "kids" in the 1970s, Good Americana type footage.

Now this benefit show would make a perfect Vaults release.

The interview bit is fascinating : it's not the usual guarded cautious Jagger who's featured but a vulnerable open person who (for once) tells the truth : how the the band members get along? By not seeing each others too often... grinning smiley

Ouch... and the ominous threat in the "by the time you turn 30 you have to do sth else with your life" statement. Did Mick mean he intended to drop rock music and start a career in films?

Probably yes. But it won't be released, they played not that good if I remember correctly. At least we have a reasonable audience recording but without MR probably.

A great find Deltics. Many thanks for posting.

With this and the recently discovered NME Poll Winners gig from Wembley 68 it's been a great start to the year and gives us all hope that the archives have not been entirely drained.

This was one of the first Stones bootlegs I bought - back in 74 - and it was such a great set list but such a poor recording.

This Forum 73 show is similar to Knebworth in 76 and El Mocambo in 77 in that it features quite a few songs that they hadn't played for a while like Bitch, Route 66, It's All Over Now, Dead Flowers, Stray Cat Blues, Live With Me and No Expectations that they had only played live at the Rock'n'Roll Circus show in 68.

And how amazing would it have been after all that for them to come back on and blow everyone away with Midnight Rambler. I hope that a recording exists in their archives and that it can be released soon.

Yes, he wore the denim jacket many times during the '72 tour, first in San Diego and last in Pittsburgh.

I remember carrying a picture of Jagger at the Nicaraguan benefit to a hairstylist hoping she could replicate that look. She couldn't.

This is great - awesome to see a complete Brown Sugar. And also very cool to hear Keith fluff the intro (or was it a very early appearance from The Scarf?) It proves that Keith wasn't always perfect even during the "golden era" - he's human and he always has been!

Iirc the 1st few numbers from this show are well below the 1972 standards.

OT can you imagine the level of speculation/anger/lament here if the TMOQ crew hadn't taped this show?
"According to Ben Fong-Torres they played "No Expectations". This is the Holy Grail of Stones shows" etc etc etc grinning smiley

Can't figure out what the 1975 footage has got to do with this.

Methinks it was one big 16mm reel that was transfered (and offered for sale) "as is".
