OT: Black Crowes Live Discs

I see that the Black Crowes have released via the internet four discs of their recents shows in San Francisco. Has anyone heard any of them yet? The set lists look excellent, but I don't know if I want to shell out the $26 per show for less than excellent sound quality.

i was at the first show - the only one they didn't do a Stones cover! I'm thinking of buying the instant live recording - but I already have a killer audience recording, so it's a tough decision. The shows all were wonderful, from what I witnessed and have heard from others. The Crowes are the real deal.

What Stones songs did they cover? I was at one of their Boston shows and I don't remember them playing one. REALLY good show btw!

One of my alltime favorite concerts ever was when the BCs played at Irving Plaza in NYC, I think it was 1994. They did one of those things where they announced it that day, you had to wait out in line and if you got a ticket, you had to go right in. I never got to see the Rolling Stones late 60s/early 70s (I was too little), but this show felt like how I imagine they would have been like. It was really great. I remember there were a couple of bone heads trying to mosh, and Chris Robinson gave them crap. He said something like "hey man, you should be here for the music". That was so cool of him! He made the guys look like a couple of @#$%&. heh heh heh.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

How was their version of T&F'd. I love the guitar on that one. Did they stay close to the original, or jam off with it?

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

They absolutely nail T&F - they do it part of an acoustic set these days.

chippy - I'm familiar in general with Instant Live recordings. They are generally excellent soundboards with some audience "nuance" included. You won't likely be disappointed.

T & A - When did they perform: SWAY????

looked at their webpage (although not all entries)
but didn't notice it (recently) about what year & place? and how many times??

Would love to hear their version, maybe they might invite Mick Taylor
one of these days to "sit-in" -- that would be something!!!

don't know if they've done it this year, MCDDTLC...but I've got a couple of versions of it from earlier years...actually, now that I check that website, it doesn't come up in a search...strange...cos I do have a couple of versions.

I got Torn & Frayed somewhere, gotta look it up. I just found this one on my computer.

3-30-2005, Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC, NY --) You Gotta Move (encore)

Cool band. Never heard their version of Sway, but I imagin Marc Ford would set the song on fire. He's a player all the Taylor adepts should check out.

regards, e.

you know WHY they play Stones songs for an encore? They need a Bigger Bang!

Ha ha, very funny.

But seriously they blow every other band in their genre away. I've heard these Stones songs by them:

Honky Tonk Woman
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
Sway
T&F
Tumbling Dice
Happy
Silver Train

might be able to - gotta find it first! Now that I think about it - I think it's from a soundcheck, which would explain why it's no showing up in the Crowes database.... send me your email - i'm at todarmstro@aol.com - wish me a happy 46th while you're at it. I'm not getting any older - just as George Carlin says:

"Every day I beat myown previous record for the number of consecutive days I've stayed alive."
