they are a band of 70 year olds who haven't had a hit record in almost 20 years, they need to do alot of shit.
we're all guilty of it,rolling stones stockholm syndrome.it's why we pay $500 or $1000 a ticket for an oldies show that should be playing a county fair.
for context-if this were the mid 1970's the stones would be a band that last had a #1 hit during world war 2.

Smokestack is a bit repitive, even more than Harlem Shuffle, and rests mostly on Wolf, nah, LW's "My Babe" would be terrific !

the last day of grammy eligibilty is friday which makes me think they'll release the entire disc.

most of the time when it looks like they're doing something random there's really a business decision behind it.
they used to record in jamaica, germany, france, london, los angeles etc and it gave us an image of a band that liked to keep moving.of course we now know it was just for tax purposes.

On my facebook,I've joine a Group called Rolling Stones friends
Some guy on there dropping hints about the new blues album
His saying there's one woody lead vocal, and Charlie plays ghost notes a lot.
I've no idea what ghost notes are lol.
Also there's no chuck leavel on two tracks, and sonny Rollins plays a solo on one track.
When asked about this info he reply was he was a fly on the wall.
Make of it what you will, I've shared the info on my facebook page.
My FB is Terry Ambrose from uk.

Really? Looks like it's passed:

What are the eligibility requirements?
For the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2016. Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot).

That's a good candidate, as it was used also in the series "Vinyl" and in the Edith Grove part of Exhibitionism as one of the background songs. Maybe it would be too obvious as a choice, but I hope that it will be included in the album, because I love that number!

oh man, you're right-i went back and looked ,the article i was reading was from sept 28.
terrible move on the stones part, this is the kind of thing the grammy people go crazy for.even if it didn't sell alot at first, if it's nominated let alone wins an award the sales skyrocket.

In my imagination I envision something like the Elvis Presley '68 comeback special setup, but in a studio. All of them sitting facing each other and jamming away at songs. Then they pulled the songs out of the two day jamming session.

Ghost notes are when a drummer plays with lots of subtlety; and lest the stick that hits the snare e.g. loosely skip on the drumhead after the hit. Charlie is good at it.
Woodt singing lead? And Sonny Rollins? I dont' know...

Ups... excuse me, I just checked page 2...

BTW, don't you think that the recording of this album could be "meat" for an interesting docu? In the spirit of "Under the Influence" which I love, but very recently published maybe...
