Arnie was responsible for the rise in golf popularity in the 60s. He was one of the most beloved sports figures ever. God bless him.

Uh, Jack Nicklaus is still alive. 18 majors to 7. So any RIP for "the king of golf" is premature. Arnie was a worthy and charismatic competitor, however.

So many greats headed for the exits in 2016...

I did mix up an Arnold Palmer to toast Arnold Palmer today,
one of our all time famous athletes, great golfer, good man... and invented his own drink.

RIP Arnie.

Jack has more wins but no one touches Arnold Palmer in popularity.
NO ONE.

He is THE KING.

As I heard Steve Sands, from the Golf Channel, say a few short weeks ago:
"Jack Nicklaus doesn't have a drink named after HIM!"

Actually, he does. It's called Golden Bear and it's a strawberry lemonade. I tried one once. It tastes nasty. Comes in a couple other flavors, too.
