hearing is believing, Gazza! I just hope that Keith doesn't think of INFAMY as a warhorse that people could not live without and therefore feels obliged to play it night after night...

Hey GAZ- If keith breaks out YGTS in Detroit, I'll be crying right there in my seat! Never saw that one live... yet.

Hey crossfire, that's exactly what I mean - can you imagine anyone crying right there in his seat when keith breaks out Infamy ?

Re: Infamy

the reviews of keiths songs are 1/5 which is really really bad. This is due to his singing (in)abilities and the songs themselves. Sorry but they are not good. except for thief in the night on BTB (studio not live).

WELL,IT IS NORMAL THAT SOME PEOPLE DON´T GET IT. "INFAMY" IS NO CRAP LIKE "STREETS OF LOVE" OR "RAIN FALL DOWN"......

yeah. satisfaction is almost completely keith's song!

I like this song, for a couple of years now with ballads, we get something `new` from keith. Like T&A wrote, it`s reminds me of rockawhile, wich have also a great groove.
For almost 20 years, this kind of songs suit him, it has everything, a great funky tune, a blues harp, and you have to listen between the lines!

Keith has written 75% of the crucial stuff.

Re: Infamy

The only two times I have heard this songs were live and the groove is not bad but the song doesn't seem to go anywhere. I will have to wait to hear a few times to make a decesion on it.

Baboon- not sure if you can really say that Keith wrote 75% of the crucial stuff for the Stones.

It has everything? Now THAT needs to be explained. It has NOTHING. Just sounds like some stuff any idiot amateur band from the neighborhood can do without too much effort. You are carried away just because it's labelled "Keith Richards".

Some of ya guys make to much of the fact that´s Keith singing.
He still makes VERY much of the music even if Mick sings.

No, Keith wrote that one. But he doesnt write songs like he used to and thats sad. And the reviews are usually written by guys who love the Stones just like me.

Hmm, no he didnt. Mick wrote Brown Sugar to name one. Winter is another. But sure, Keith USED to write half of the crucial stuff. And I love the way he played and sang up until around 1983.

OK, I'm one of those people who don't get it what a wonderful track "Infamy" really is. Too Bad. Although I would not call "Streets Of Love" or "Rain Fall Down" crap (they're in my opinion just not one the same level as the strongest tracks from A BIGGER BANG, but they're also not exactly bad), to use your words: Infamy is no crap like Streets Of Love or Rain Fall Down - Infamy is a lot crappier than those two. At least those two are songs.

And I havent said a word on the two songs sung by Keith
(wouldnt call them Keith-songs). Now I will:
I think TPIE is very very good. Infamy; well, its hasnt stuck with at
yet. Don´t know if it ever will.
But I´m Sooo Sicked And Tired hearing this crap 'Keith hasn´t wrote a good
song since 1981... 1983... Or whatever.
He has never been a better songwriter than now! Ya hear?!

Just wait and hear the reviews thruout the world.
He wrote at least half the stuff on ABB, I´d say more than that.
Lyrics is peanuts. I´m talkin´ music here.

Basta.

Infamy is one of the greatest tunes on album. This Place Is Empty is great as well.

Yeha, but the music he used to write, are you saying he's better now??

I feel it necessary to remind everybody that this thread is not about Keith's achievements in general, it's just about this one "song" Infamy from A Bigger Bang.

Hey, retired_dog!!! I just wanted to make my point.....imo SOL and RAIN FALL DOWN are o.k for GOdDESS IN THE DOORWAY but not good enough to make it in what maybe will be their LAST STUDIO ALBUM.
are you coming to Argentina to see the stones??????

Thank you for your words, Retired Dog; "I feel it necessary to remind everybody that
this thread is not about Keith's achievements in general, it's just about this one
'song' Infamy from A Bigger Bang".

But LA Forum usually takes all chances to bash on Keith-nowadays.
He´s the most mature of the Glimmer Twins in 2005, and that´s tough sh*it
to melt for many people. Most of us under 50-something have a hard time
comprehend what´s movin´ around in ool´ Keef´s head these days.

I repeat: dont confuse his singing acts with his songwriting.

LA: "Yeha, but the music he used to write, are you saying he's better now??"
BB: "Yep."

Just wanna ad d one little - but important thing - these kind of discussions often
(lucky us) end with a summary of the kind 'But the co-writing is the
main thing'. Nanker-Phelge, The GlimmerTwins... Anything... The gods were
on the right mood the nighs in Jagger´s mansion when ABB had its genès.
You can take Keith & Mick from the glimmer, but you cant take the Glimmer from the twins...

And i`m not carried away, i`m just glad that he make a song like this, not a ballad or something wich we get for almost 15 years or so, the guy will never make a song like happy or t&a (no not you bastard LOL), because that days are over for him.
You are carried away with TPIE, that`s a song i allready heard ten times from him.

My point is that INFAMY isn't even o.k. for a Keith solo album and that it is even worse to include this throwaway track in what maybe their last studio album. Yes, I might come to Argentina to see them.

Happy - a masterpiece... Now be reasonable.
Its a tremendous live act... But as a song... ?
That´s his first stumbling steps as a solo-writer,
if you ask me.
I say he wrote most of ABB´s rockers, maybe with the exception of RJ.

Re: Infamy

This is just about the only Rolling Stones track with Richards on lead vocals that people dance to when it's done in concert.I wonder why they chose this one over Streets Of Love.Probably because it is better than Streets Of Love which is "awful bad".

Re: Infamy

Yeah, it corresponds with the role of Jailhouse Rock for Elvis.
Did he love it in, say, 1973?

Wrong. It's not "they" who chose to play Infamy, it's Keith who chose to play it because he decides what's going to be played during his solo spot. That's the deal. It's all about contracts.

Oh, great. If you hear a great funky tune, fine with me. Are you on meds ? Just asking.

I never listen to music between the lines, mate! Again: Are you on meds?
(Honestly: When the music sucks, the lyrics between the lines do not interest me that much)

It's a pity when the good days are really over for him. And, just because Infamy is different does not make it any good for me.

> You are carried away with TPIE, that`s a song i

Does this fact make TPIE a bad song ? And does this fact make Infamy any good ?
