Stones Leather Tour Jacket Question
Posted by: Paulhanrahan ()
Date: April 18, 2016 08:04

I'm a collector of everything Stones related and have a question about a 14 On Fire leather jacket, I bought it off ebay from a lady on the east coast of Oz who got it from someone who "worked on the tour". The thing is, it's got a unique black tongue applique on the back, but the really interesting thing is it's made in the USA and it seems more durable leather and zips than other Stones jackets I've purchased in recent years all of which are made in China. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks

I also collect Stones leather jackets. The last few have been rather poor in quality ,compared to the Steel Wheels jacket.Post a picture of this jacket and it might help. The 14 on fire jacket certainly had cheap and nasty zips and soft leeather that creases easily.Nice logo though.

Those Steel Wheels leathers were indeed quality biker jackets.
I allowed mine to slip through my hands. damn it.

I would love to see a picture of the 14 On Fire leather jacket in question, really a bunch of pictures, close ups of the details and cool stuff.

I have a great 1994 Tour letterman's jacket. Black with white leather sleeves and red accents.

Thanks very much Rockman, legend that you are! As an aside there are a few photos (apologies I'm a crap photographer) of a "Jackrose Vintage" jacket from Japan which is pretty cool. The final 3 are of the 14 On Fire jacket in question. Unlike the ones they were selling with the black leather tongue on the back, red words, and made in China, this has a different applique, white words, made in the US of A, and is much more robust in terms of snaps, zips etc. I've never seen this design before just wondering if anyone else can comment as it seems pretty unique. Cheers.

It wasn't related to a tour as such they just did a range of limited addition jackets mabe 5 years ago. They did a brown version as well. The black one I have is not the only style there was at least one other as far as I know.

I've got one of those VL Biker jackets.

It's nice quality but I don't like its overly short styling and those silly lace up bits on the sides.

As I mentioned earlier I have one of these in mint condition but mine has a tongue on the right arm, does this one, it doesn't seem apparent?

The White 14 On Fire print 'made in USA' label
The Red 14 on Fire print 'made in China' label

I had not seen that before, the USA one is a harder leather

My brother bought the Licks version back in 2002 (or '03) from the official site and paid about $400+ brand new, and he never wore it.
WAY out of my budget at the time - all my money went to traveling around and seeing the Stones! smiling smiley

When he passed away several years back, I inherited all of his belongings - including a ton of stuff in a storage unit where I found the jacket.
Couldn't find the liner which I assume there was because of zippers on the inside, but the jacket itself is still in flawless mint condition.
It's either an X-large or XX-large, but when I tried it on it was a bit snug and isn't really my style, so I haven't worn it either.
Here's some pics I found via google of the jacket (the design is high quality stitched into the leather):

I have no sentimental attachment to it and will never wear it so might be willing to part with it if anyone has some interest in it - at a fair price of course.
