Not even interested enough to click the link, I'm afraid!
Flowers is the best one, and that's all that matters :E

GRRR! is the best compilation ever released by any band.

I'll admit I was a little let down by GRRR! when it came out, as it didn't add a whole lot more to 40 Licks...but judged on it's own merit it is a great compilation.

The Rolled Gold + cd reissue is arguably the best compilation of the Abkco material. It contains all of Hot Rocks and part of More Hot Rocks + some songs that do not appear on either compilation. It also contains some key album tracks that were not issued as singles so they are not included in The London Years - The Singles Collection.

I always thought that the original Rolled Gold was the best compilation of the Decca period. It contained all of the UK singles and some very choice album tracks.

No Stone Unturned Vol. 1 & 2 for the 60's (only available on iTunes). Has all the 60's singles and the non-LP tracks...

My 1-CD comp of choice would be Jump Back - all the classics, only the classics.
My 2-CD comp would probably be Forty Licks - GRRR 2CD doesn't add much...

The GRRR 5CD is probably the best of all though.

Through the Past Darkly was my first album - my favorite.

Difficult to classify.
The early ones had a few songs, such as 1965-1969.
The later ones have all songs - 1962-2012.

One of the first albums I bought.

The album, the sleeve with it's book of photos...the whole package just has an amazing vibe about it.

Any compilations containing edited songs immediately disqualifies it from any consideration from me.

I think 'Hot Rocks' is the best one. Historically it came in and really delivered. Spanned their history up to that point; had the better version of "Rambler".
In the digital age stuff like 40 Licks and Grrr were really not needed anymore.
The ones that I personally love, like 'No Stone Unturned" or 'Metamorphosis' are for collectors.

This is the first Stones album I ever got - for Christmas 1970 - and it captures the Stones at their late 60s, psychedelic best. How can it fail with Jumping Jack Flash, Honky Tonk Women, 2000 Light years From Home and Street Fight Man on it?

This is the 60's Rolling Stones compilation IMO!

This, every day of the week. My dad bought it when originally released in 1975/76 and played it lots when my parents had people round. I, aged 9 listened from upstairs and was fascinated by the sleeve notes, potted history and photos on the cover. I liked the Beatles from an early age and still do but this harsher and rawer sounding alternative somehow got right under my skin and caught my imagination and intrigued me more. Strangely, he only ever seemed to play 4 tracks - It's all over now, The Last Time, Satisfaction and Cloud.

In the ensuing years I was enthralled on the relatively rare occasions that this 'mystery' alternative to the Beatles appeared on TV (only 3 channels in the UK in those days!)

In my late teens I finally taped my dad's copy of Rolled Gold and played it right through, over and over. The Stones were not really seen as being 'cool' in my generation at the time and few kids my age were into them but I didn't care and kept playing this old tape. My dad, 3 months younger than Charlie, still has his original copy of Rolled Gold, though it's a bit worse for wear now! I finally managed to drag he and my mum along to a gig, in Paris in 2007.

It may or may not be the best Stones compilation as it only covers the Decca years but it will always be my personal favourite because it made me a fan of this incredible band who continue to attract fans aged 10-80. Later on in my early 20s I progressively bought up every single Stones album and became the die hard I am today, all because of Rolled Gold.

Blimey, feeling a wee bit emotional now....

I'm w/ Hairball ... when I bought Made In The Shade, I had no clue it was a compilation. To me it was my next great Stones album. I recall being confused back then when I got albums like Goats Head and IORR, having some of the same songs... it wasn't until I bought a Stones book that I figured out the order and that this was basically a hits album. Actually I was pretty new to music, I don't think i was even aware bands put out 'hit' albums back then.

So the fact that i played my MITS 8-track a few hundred times, I cannot call it pointless!
