The Queen of Soul the one and only Aretha Franklin . May the Good Lord Bless her . I was thinking last night as I watched the story on the NBC Nightly News about the one and only time seeing her live back in 1993 at the whatever you call it Jazz Fest in my neck of the woods at a shed which I would rather forget . The Queen of Soul was the headliner on the second and final night of the fest and she had a really nice big band with her and if I remember correctly her son was the director of the band and did she deliver the goods with a spectacular performance and really shined on all of her classic's .Truly one of the greatest vocalists of all time with the catalogue to back up her accolades ,including the very first female inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . God Bless you Aretha Franklin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When asked to sing the title song for the 1986 film JUMPIN' JACK FLASH Aretha said she'd only do it if Keith produced it. The result isn't exactly a chef-d'oeuvre but it's fun to see Keith and Ronnie in the video.

Aretha will be a very heavy loss, as she truly is the greatest.

My very first biz trip at age 22 after college was to Michigan U. The return flight on a 727 back to LAX was full except for the middle seat next to my window seat. An immense but beautifully dressed and bejeweled African American woman came late down the aisle, and since I’m 6’2” I dreaded the thought.

She was a backup singer for Aretha who was in 1st class. She immediately gave me and my row-mate two tickets each to their Greek Thater show the next night and told us to get there early to meet them, which I did ... Aretha was classy all the way.

I now feel like an idiot since I never saw another Aretha show. Like Billy Preston said she kinda scared me with her voice .... incredible

Do you want to know how great the Queen of Soul is ? You Tube her pinch hitting last second fill in for the sick Luciano Pavarotti at the 1998 Grammy Awards doing Puccini aria "Nessun dorma" 30 minutes into the Performance the great Tenor calls in sick and the producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrilich goes to Aretha Franklin and asks her to fill in and she had sung the Aria 2 nights earlier honoring Pavarotti .Do you know how well she sung it to a standing ovation including hitting the high B note at the climax of the aria (for me this gave me goosebumps hearing her voice hitting that high B note) .If anyone remembers the Turino Winter Games of the Olympics when the Great Pavarotti belted out this Aria . I can't remember if it was for the opening or closing ceremony . This is a example of how great The Queen of Soul is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone please post a link to Aretha’s JJF video? The one that features Keith , Ronnie, and Whoopi from the movie. It seems it may be blocked here in the states for whatever reason.
