and there were Ampeg amps up there.
Looked like Daryl's, but that's a good sign.
Was I seeing things?

can't believe it! Darryl about to improve his bass sound? As I said earlier at least at Drury Lane he used Ampeg cabinets. But now also an Ampeg amp? Wow!

Indeed, just saw a clip of it find 3 complete Ampeg stacks. Looks like each has a SVT300 top. But I'm not sure if those are 8x10" cabinets or even more.

Well, I don't know about the Ampeg amps, I'll look for those
but I was surprised to see that Charlie had a CS head on the reasonator head
of his tom! Those are usually reserved for batter heads. Of course, maybe he has been doing this for a while since I don't usually see a pic of the bottom
head of his tom.

What amps did Daryl use before then?

I have forgotten the name of the amp and didn't know what cabinets he played but it was a solid state with two channels with lots of power. Maybe someone knowing better can shile a light on this?

It's just that I was surprised he would use anything other than an Ampeg! Most bass players I know strive after an Ampeg SVT stack as the ideal in bass tone. Seeing as Daryl plays in the greatest Rock n Roll Bnad in the World (TM) then I just assumed that he would use one!

Yes he used Ampeg. It was noticeable in the bass sound. I think this is a great change. Guys who go tonight will hear this. Have a fantastic show at Fenway 2.

You noticed a difference in the bass sound at the first show of a tour... at a baseball stadium? I find that pretty hard to take very seriously.

I've heard finally his bass sound is more to rock music than jazz! But still not Bill Wyman!

Charlie has used the CS heads for years, even as resonant. I´ll try it myself. Sounds wery warm and full to me.

Yes, I did notice a difference in the bass sound on the first outdoor show. Why is that so hard to believe? I was fourth row right in front of Mr. Jones. The people I sat/stood with all said the same thing. I also agree that Darryl does not have the same sound as Bill(which I prefer), but I like what I heard Sunday night.
