So, Michael Cohl is The Rolling Stones? One capitalist fighting the other. And the right capitalist wins? It all seems like Dirty Work to me Anyway You look At It...

i dont care about donald trump at all-he has his ideas,i have mine.but for some reason this guy makes people insane.

michael coles story is so full of nonsense,so made up that it boggles the mind.
if you read the full transcript,it's laughable.

the list of bullshit is just too long to list but it seems people are so hell bent on getting on the publicity bandwagon they will say anything.

first cole says he shopped the pay-per-view to las vegas but had no takers because they "didnt like rock and roll there yet" [i guess elvis, the beatles, the doors, van halen, guns and roses,aerosmith,U2 and other acts that played there before the stones weren't rock and roll.]

then cole insists "the stones wanted nothing to do with trump"-strange because trump at the time was just a casino owner in atlantic city who owned real estate in new york.in 1989 there was no reason to have an opinion of him at all, good or bad.it would be like kirk kerkorian or Steve Wynn giving a press conference before a show or a fight in vegas -who cares.a casino owner at a mic promoting a show in his building isn't unusual let alone worth slamming knives on tables and running around carrying on.

another of the 1000 holes in the story-cole starts out by saying "trump could only promote the show in AC, nowhere else" yet the entire episode revolves around a press conference IN AC! how dare he get in front of a mic and speak of the show, the audicity...but you just said that was the deal you made with him at the beginning of the story.

there was also comedy-apparently trump had "guys in trench coats and leather gloves, one with brass knuckles". here cole is asking us to believe the casino owner wanted to promote the rolling stones show so bad he was gonna use a goon squad to make sure it happened, even though he had nothing at stake except for a site fee which was already paid up front.how did that go down exactly?-"you let me use my time to promote your show for no reason whatsoever damnit or i'm gonna have my guys take care of you"
not-real-life.

there's a stange dynamic with people who leave the rolling stones either as employees or hangers-on.they all have this bizarre way of inflating the situations they were in to an almost cartoonish level that only a child or a person with a limited I.Q would believe.
it alawys either involves them setting someone straight, making decisions on behalf of the band or in some way elevating their stature within the bands lives and/or career.[and you can read about it in their book,of course available now on amazon for 19.99]

the one that most recently comes to mind was the producer who had to tell mick taylor he couldnt use his own drums, bass and guitar on a stones track because the stones have a perfectly good drummer and bass player[because of course mick taylor didnt know this and had to be told by mister important] and of course the producer then become upset and told jagger "either he's out or i am" [this must have really caused jagger some concern, hmmm do i lose a member of the band or a producer..it must've kept the commander up for many a sleepless night trying to decide]

again,not-real-life

Hm. Two things. Donald Trump was an famous/infamous character long before 1989, especially in New York, where Jagger had lived. He was the prime target of Spy Magazine, offshoot of Vanity Fair. There was already negative publicity that the Stones had decided to play at Trump's place in Atlantic City.

Second. Glyn Johns was a legendary figure in UK recordings, not "some producer." He also has a big ego and temper. He broke up with the Eagles, who recorded for his production company with him at the helm, in spectacular fashion. He's even recently had rows with Ryan Adams.

so the stones didnt want to have anything to do with Trump because jagger lived in new york and Trump was in a magazine?oh,that settles it.

i remember the AC pay per view like it was yesterday, what "negative publicity" did the show get that had to do with Trump?,just asking, because i know the stones always run from "negative publicity"the kind you might get in some corridors for say, playing Isreal or Cuba.-oh,wait...

i know who Glyn johns is and couldn't care less.i am glad he told mick taylor that charlie and bill where good though,i'm sure after taylor had toured the world with them a couple of times he may have suspected it but was really glad for the confirmation.
i'm sure jagger was shaking in his shoes trying to decide who went-his guitar player or producer-it's laughable bullshit.

The story is True. Trump has always had enemies in NY. He's lucky Keith didn't cut him. Michael was closer to the band than anyone. He was there. I was not but the band still laugh about it to this day. No, they do not like Trump. At all. Mick, Keith and Roniie were all living in NY in the 80's.

this is beyond funny

when a big event happens at a casino the press conference goes as such-

the site owner or an executive comes out first, welcome to the MGM or whatever.they talk a bit about how great their place is,how they are honored to have[fill in the blank] "and now welcome"- then the promoters and the star of the evening comes out.

this is usually a fight,of course.so normally in those days it was 1.site owner2.bob arum or don king and 3rd the fighters would talk.

since i saw it with my own eyes,as i remember it trump came out, talked about his casino, how he was glad to have the stones there blah blah blah answered some questions and left.this is something he had done hundreds of times with mike tyson, sugar ray leonard and others.

the stones then came out and talked for a bit and it was over-

to have a guitar player come out and stab the casino owner would have been a little odd to say the least.how would that go down exactly-"you're talking too much, stop promoting our show so much"stab stab stab...

since the owners total interest is a site fee that is paid up front and publicity for the casino, having guys with "gloves and brass knuckles"would be there to what end? most likely the stones were a little irritated that hairdo was talking too long or that he had used their media room at some point without their permission, but a gang war with flunkies and roadies facing off with tire irons-good lord man get real.

since 26 years has passed i will stand corrected if someone can come up with anyone, a roadie,a security guard,a cook , a maid,a driver, one of the stones, one of trumps guys,a cousin, an uncle of any of the above who has told anything close to this sordid tale.and no,jumping on the silly story bandwagon at this late date and saying"yeah, that happened" doesnt count-you have 26 years to look back through and find something,i'm waiting.
