Didn't he also play bass the night Santana guested? June 27th?
I've got photos of him playing bass on two different MSG nights,
unless one is from a rehearsal.

Didn't Keith play bass on Fingerprint File on the 1975 tour?

...As for Sympathy: somehow they must have thought it a better idea to have only 2 guitar players for that song, instead of three. Maybe they couldn't find an appropriate weaving pattern for the three of them?

couple more - Jumping Jack flash, Street fighting Man ...
..listening recently to a lot of live Stones, on the From The Vault stuff, just makes me personally love Bill's bass playing even more.
they just went with what felt right in the studio and if Keith had a good bass idea then he played it...

Doesn't Keith play bass on Heartbreaker?

He does 1/2 the bass work on Ruby Tuesday
The record version of JJF? That's a shocker. SFM.. That's a surprise too. These along with SFD are musical genius, perfection, brilliant stuff which is one of the many reasons that Keith is a giant. He's lovely to behold, strutting a Les Paul Junior these days, squaking atonal flurries at ear bleeding volume for us all. What a great time this is, sorry to go off topic but sometimes it's like that.Quote

He's a fine rock bass player. I believe he played it on the studio "Happy", too.

Keith WAS a decent bass player, with some fine moments from '66 to '72. But after that he either lost interest or lost his touch. And there are times when he was copying Bill's style, like Happy. Bill's style IS the Stones bass style. That's why you listen to Darryl and you keep waiting for him to put a note where Bill would, and he seems to intentionally not do it, and the Stones sound suffers for it. If he was putting something else there, something that enhanced the music I'd back off, but Darryl doesn't put anything memorable there. There's just big empty spaces where the bass should be. There's a reason they left the door open for Bill to return, for years.

You haven't been listening a lot to Crosseyed Heart? You'll find some very nice bass playing in there.
