OT: Albums of 2005 so far?

What are your favourite albums from 2005 so far? I'm looking for some tips.

Mine is the new Eels album. I know there aren't a lot of people here that share my enthusiasm for Eels, but I think it's a masterpiece.

1. Eels - Blinking Lights & Other Revelations
2. Beck - Guero
3. Solomon Burke - Make Do With what You Got

Joe Cocker's latest - Heart and Soul - is one of his best records in years. Most of the 2005 releases that interest me most are still to be released:

Stones
Macca
Neil
EC
Stills (think this is already out)
Band box set
Dylan bootleg series #7
Bonnie Raitt

Lucinda Williams - Live At The Fillmore! So sar, my fave of 2005!

Thanks for the tip on Joe Cocker, The Stills album is decent. Meld it with the Crosby & Nash album from last year and you've got the best CSN album since CSN!

Lucinda Williams and Aimee Mann's albums are both great. Also "Some Cities" by the Doves. The album by the band The Music is incredible. Kings of leon, Ryan Adams,Mercury Rev and Arcade Fire. I feel redundant saying this but I think the Stones album will eclipse them all.

I forgot to mention the Kaiser Chiefs. Great album! Saw them at Pinkpop earlier this summer and they rocked!

Lots of albums, I got some downloading / shopping to do, I guess. Thanks!

Off the top of my head

Screaming Trees, Ocean Of Confusion ... Best of from 90-96

I'm not sure if this was 2005 but I really enjoyed

Johnny Cash, Life

The last few Cash albums really grabbed me so I picked this one up. and it's like the guy was saying good-bye with a selection of his tunes over like 40-50 years.

Hasnt been a great year for albums so far, but Bruce's "Devils & Dust" and Lucinda's live album are the only two I've gone out of the way for...havent got the new Cash one yet, although i think its mostly previously released stuff so not sure if it counts as 'new'

I've heard the Stones album, albeit in lo-fi form, and it's certainly worthy of being in the same company. Their best for many, many years I'm happy to say....

Pretty slow year so far.

3 good releases:

Devils & Dust (Springsteen) is fantastic. Get Behind Me Satan (White Stripes) really surprised me. with_teeth (Nine Inch Nails) is nowhere near Reznors best work, but it's still good.

My choices of this year so far:

Billy Bremner - No Ifs, Buts And Maybes
Kirstin Candy - La Vie En Rouge
John Hiatt - Master Of Disaster
Ry Cooder - Chavez Ravine
John Prine - Fair And Square

(in no particular order yet)

Apart from the Stones record, there's others that I'm anticipating, like the new Terry Evans record and the one by the Jason Sinay Band, which I have ordered, but were not yet delivered. And a Billboard interview with T Bone Burnett rumored the release of his new album for this year.

a cynic (who moi?) would counter that it's their only album in many, many years.

oops - how could I forget - Van the Man's latest "Magic Time" is another marvelous album. I don't think the man's capable of anything less than that these days. He's had a remarkable run of quality albums....

no...thats only "many years" (ie no more than ten)

"many many years" = 20-25 years

Hope that clarifies matters ;-)

That does help, Gazza. It's been so many years, I had forgotten how many it took for it to be many many. Many many thanks....er, many thanks.
