OT: Nazareth

I just purchased the double disc "Maximum XS" and almost forgot how good and underrated this band was. Everybody knows of them for "Love Hurts" but their other songs were actually very good. Anyone else agree?

Wonderful band!
At [www.nazarethdirect.co.uk] - the official site (!) there are downloadable mp3, both as samples and full-length songs... Go check out "This Flight Tonight"!!! at Loud ´n Proud from 1973... You better do it now!!
And... Also check out Razamanaz from album with the same name & Bad Bad Boy... !

Seems like 1973 was their peak year, cause Razamanaz is also from 73.

O, my lost youth...

Nazareth has always had a good following in Canada. Their live album SNAZ was recorded in Vancouver in 81. Nazareth Greatest Hits is a definite must have for any album collection!

Was fortunate enough to see them in........ '73!

They beat the bollocks out of all the young, trendy, groovy Scottish bands, eg Franz Ferdinand. Album cover of Loud'n'Proud is one of the best ever too.

And, speaking of early seventies Scot-rock........ don't forget Alex Harvey.

absolutely a great great band. Saw them in a club in Norway in 1989 (?), I think...anyway, that concert rocked hard. Saw them again 1 1/2 week ago and was still a good live band (althoug their version of Ruby Tuesday sucks, I must say)

Alex Harvey is also a great great band.
Will check out Joni´s own version after Billy318124:s tip, though
I highly doubt it will top Nazareth´s. But on the other hand
I fell drop-dead for Nazareth at the age of 13 and cant see them
objectively.

Scottish roots... Theme for a new thread.. ?
I come to think of Ian Anderson & his Jethro Tull, of at least thre former
are born in Scotland (b. Aug. 10, 1947, Edinburgh, Scotland. [www.collecting-tull.com]).
Tull´s official site - also with good, useful links [www.j-tull.com]

Anyone here that can comment on Nazareth´s first two albums?

Don't forget their great cover of "I Want To Do Everything For You".

Also, "Beggar's Day" was written by Nils Lofgren, who also wrote "Keith Don't Go".

Have to agree with everyone here, Nazareth are great, last time i saw them was a few years ago in Wolverhampton supporting uriah Heep, and for my money - and the others on the train home - Nazareth blew Heep way.

Keep on Rockin'

Great band. I think it's called "The Sensational Alex Harvey Band" or something...

I have Razamanaz, Loud'n Proud and a couple more LP's, and I listened a lot to them back in the 70's.. The band is ok, but why discuss them at this place? Do that at Nazareths site, and not at this site is my point..... And though Nazareth was ok in the 70s their music is kinda outdated nowadays, an not up to date as The Stones music is.

I don't see why Stones fans shouldn't be able to discuss whatever it must be.
Fair enough that it is a Stones forum.....but come on, nice to hear what other fans think about different artist, so....give us a break and if it bother you then don't read the topic

cheers Niklas

Nik.
Ya heard Nazareth on cd; it is a great difference from vinyl:
please go to the link I gave & give them another go, right? [www.nazarethdirect.co.uk]
Shorter threads on other groups often brings new blood to this board.

"F&#¤%&NG ANDREW"

- ...Hey, people; Wasnt Andrew involved in Nazareth for a while in the 70´s
(who read Stoned and 2Stoned? Raise your hand in the air...
I bought them - signed, of course - and read them but cant find
them in my mess at home)... ?
