out of curiosity, what would you rank an earlier album, for example, aftermath or between the buttons?

I just checked my Mp3 player and I have 4 albums on there previous to Beggars Banquet, so I must have thought they were pretty good at the time that I was recording 507 albums onto the player.
The Rolling Stones (9/10
Aftermath (10/10)
Now (9/10)
12X5 9/10)

As far as material released after Steel Wheels: I deleted it all from my Mp3 Player, and saved them on my computer.

However, it is worth mentioning that someone here on the forum provided a link a while back to (I beleive) a YouTube custom made album entitled "Playing the Blues". I recorded it from Youtube and if it were an official release I would rate it at 10/10. Note that alot of the songs on "Playing the Blues" came after Steel wheels.

In my opinion there are about 5 good songs on Voodoo Lounge.

Bridges to Babylon was good for awhile but I got tired of it very fast.

A Bigger Bang I simply never really liked, but I did try to like it.

With reference to one post from Doxa recently, which Rolling Stone wanted the Stones to record the album anew in the studio, and which other Rolling Stone (assisted by a certain producer) wanted to keep the album as it was?

Awful songs like 'Sweet Neo Con', 'Let me down slow', 'Driving too fast' or 'Streets of Love' are related to 'Everybody getting high', 'Visions of Paradise' and 'Brand new set of rules'. All very poor songs.

I see only "Streets of Love" as GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY- coloured. The live version from Rome still showed some promise for that song, given band influence (even if that influence in Rome was much due to Mick Taylor). The other three songs to my ears are not that much Mick solo album marked. "Driving Too Fast" is somewhat Stones-by-numbers, "Let Me Down Slow" is to me one of the main individual attractions of A BIGGER BANG, and "Sweet Neo Con" I think has some harsh quality in a positive sense. Besides, the latter song is one song that I find could have profitted much if Keith had not vetoed against recording the album anew in a proper studio, as remembered by Doxa from his reading of Keith's book.

By the way, I quite like almost all of Mick's GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY album as music different from the Stones.

At least, a new Rolling Stones album will, thankfully, not be that much CROSSEYED HEART like, whatever positive may be said about that album, relatively speaking.
