GIMME SHELTER would make everlasting impact as an opener next year.
Great opening line to start with.
Was Mick talking to himself?
Second line: Our very streets today....

Best Song EVER!!!

edit: I do think Mick did sing "A Storm Is Threatening OUR Very Lives Today" during live performances in later years.

Anybody gives a shit?

Nope, I don't - unless you're talking about floods in South America messing up people's lives?
I also care that south-coast Australia seems to have caught on fire and a bunch of denizens of iorr
might be having a bad time. Say you're all right, everyone down there! In both theres, I mean

No. Especially since you're "just saying". Not sure what else you would just do.

Think Gimme Shelter is a good opening song. Especially when you look at the 1997 Versions or The ones from 2015 which actually sound a bit like The Versions from The btb tour.
I played a set with songs recorded at concerts all over the last decades at a party (which I cutted together to make it sound like one concert) and it began with Gimme Shelter too. It ran like this:

Gimme Shelter
Start Me Up
Live With Me
Little Queenie
Beast Of Burden
Rock And A Hard Place
Out Of Tears
Midnight Rambler
Flip The Switch
Undercover
Memory Motel
Satisfaction
You Got The Silver
You Don't Have To Mean It
Honky Tonk Woman
Love Is Strong
All Down The Line
Out Of Control
2000 Light Years From Home
Sympathy For The Devil
Tumbling Dice
Jumping Jack Flash
You Can't Always Get
It's Only Rock'n'Roll
Brown Sugar

The people liked it.

Great song.......but no. Imagine that first 30 seconds unraveling. "Scarf Me Up" is here and gone in 7 seconds. GS has no opening punch. I can hear it now, Keith flubbing and altering the moody intro.........sounds like an avoidable train wreck.

Great setlist Stonesfan2146!

GIMME SHELTER has a great opening punch after "the dark threatening" intro Thrylan!

To avoid a GIMME A SCARF the intro could be played behind the curtains just before THE STONES enter stage on the opening punch riff.
I would go MAD!!!
Option two: Let Mick play it.

Keith really screwed up the intro of Gimme shelter in at wembley 1999, most people thought it was pretty funny and Keith got a big cheer...........admittedly it wasn't the opening song of the show...........so lots of room to hide in the great performance up until that point....

The first voice and 3rd instrument you would hear would be Lisa. I'm not a Lisa hater at all........but it's just not an opener.

I disagree.
GIMME SHELTER opens up like a shell and then.......hot smiley . (+50.000 STONES fans in the house/stadium).

Ah, ya see? Now it's not just some casual comment! If you said it, why say you said it? I suppose it's a way of saying "I'm not 100% or even 50% about this statement so...".

Sorry, pet peeve. Way too many people SAY it.
